RigelDC’s review published on Letterboxd:
Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a soldier tasked with repeatedly reliving the last 8 minutes of a terrorist's victim's life in order to learn the identify of the bomber before they strike again. The film probably gains a lot of cred for the visceral, neanderthal desire audiences have to see people get blown up - in this case, repeatedly. But aside from the superficial whodunit, the film delves deeply into the many worlds theory. What look like plot holes to the layman become fill-in-the-blank explanations using popular modern scientific theory and hypotheses. Areas that rely on technobabble, however, fare less well and are breezed by in the script. In fact, the film encourages viewers to come to one conclusion, even though it voids the ing structure that led to it. Regardless, the constant chases and evolving mystery is pure gold for those seeking a good Hollywood blockbuster. It makes for an excellent action thriller and pseudo-science mindbender.
