if only letterboxd existed back then. it could have been an outlet for those young lads to talk about their favorite horror movies and maybe they wouldn’t have killed half a town’s worth of teenagers plus henry winkler. a damn shame.
]]>just because he's green and has bolts sticking out of his head doesn't make him any less of a sweetie pie.
]]>have i lost it or does the basement in this movie look just like the basement from The Lego Movie?

]]>John Williams and Johnny Mercer created the greatest song to ever exist and then realized the best call would be to just reuse that same track again and again instead of the impossible task of making something equally as good, and I couldn’t be happier. I especially love the Jack Sheldon version. The first time I watched this I was way too tired to fully appreciate it, but that song has been stuck in my head since then and I’ve been dying to give this the fully-awake rewatch it deserves. I really liked it before, but now, goddam what a movie. Elliott Gould as Philip Marlowe is probably my new favorite thing ever? Yeah.
]]>the first time i watched this was during a 22 hour car ride where i then proceeded to watch it back-to-back two more times and yeah i stand by that, Whiplash really is that damn good
]]>high production value anti-bullying PSA
]]>i wish all my favorite jazz musicians had made cool ass soundtracks for noir french films
]]>strictly from a tennis standpoint it’s incredibly unrealistic. any real tennis player knows this should be way gayer.
]]>is it predictable? most definitely. did i predict that it’d be a pretty good and cute little movie? most definitely. 👍
]]>Kyle MacLachlan, Jack Nance, Dean Stockwell, and I don’t like the movie? Who the hell am I?
]]>proud to have finally watched the entirety of Lucy the dog’s filmography
]]>probably the best movie i’ve seen in theaters in the past 14 years. can’t say “in my lifetime” though because Winnie the Pooh (2011) exists.
]]>i don’t know what the ending means at all but i think i’m into it?
]]>i deeply relate to this movie because when i woke up this morning my phone had stopped charging at only 96% instead of the full one hundo
]]>is it a sin to say i enjoyed this significantly more than Memories of Murder?
]]>if every movie was directed by Billy Wilder and starred Jack Lemmon, the world would simply be a better place.
]]>turning into a big mound of bananas is probably the ideal way to die.
]]>i really miss my doggy
]]>best ending in the history of endings? yeah maybe.
]]>boys trip!!!
]]>didn’t really care what was going on but that black and white cinematography was damn pretty lol
]]>pussy so good it makes you confess to murder in the middle of having sex
]]>At first it seemed a little by the books for Tarantino. It makes sense, this was his debut so of course this shows off his signature style in the most barebones form. Since this is the third of his that I’ve seen, I wasn’t super into it. There was some dialogue that was so “Tarantino” that it felt like a parody of itself. Although as I got deeper into the film, it was clear that this was kind of the perfect movie for him to make. Long dialogue heavy scenes of criminals arguing, a non-linear structure, and buckets worth of blood. It took a bit for me to get fully invested, but Reservoir Dogs really won me over.
]]>I like two and a half hour black-and-white movies with subtitles as much as the next guy, but that’s a deadly combo when you’re very tired after a long day. That’s why I’m especially happy to say that even though I was exhausted this was fantastic.
]]>fuck “polite society”, let me jork my shit crazy style at the dinner table
]]>i’ve said that there’s no such thing as a perfect movie but yknow what i take it back
]]>remind me to check my ceiling for any Toni Collettes before i go to bed tonight
]]>I’ve heard quite a few people describe this as one of the most unique detective movies and I completely disagree. It’s pretty enjoyable, it does a lot well, but I’ve seen this same movie in different variations a thousand times. “A strange set of identical murders obsesses the local detectives as they gradually lose their minds” is the most basic setup for any movie and Memories of Murder just doesn’t do enough to hook me in. I respect having such a distinct visual identity through the entire film, but I also like colors other than gray and brown. The cinematography is great, it succeeds at the tone it’s going for, in no way is it bad, but it’s not my thing. To be clear, I think this is a genuinely good movie, but my negative thoughts are just more interesting than my positive ones. Maybe if I watched this before Cure it would have hit a bit harder.
]]>Fool me once, shame on you. Piss on my rug, also shame on you. It tied the whole room together, man.
]]>very glad divorce is just made up for the movies
]]>obviously i knew it was going to be sad but they should put disclaimers before movies this sad
]]>It’s so nice to have finally watched this damn movie. Oftentimes if I know that I will love a movie, it takes me a very long time to watch it because it doesn’t feel urgent. I usually opt for the movie I’m more curious about than one I know I’ll enjoy. This has been on my list since its release but even though I’ve really wanted to see it, I kept saying “I’ll get around to it”. Finally, tonight was the night. Everyone knows no film is perfect but I can’t think of anything but praise for Parasite. I only wish I could have experienced this when it came out.
]]>i went into Oldboy completely blind, i just wish i could have left Oldboy completely blind cause what the fuck dude
]]>somehow even more confusing on a rewatch lol
]]>I like how they opted for more freedom and creativity in their filmmaking instead of very strict rules for the first-person view. Sometimes limitations spark more creativity, but other times they can be unnecessary and do nothing for the project as a whole. Nickel Boys does a great job of making the first-person angle feel natural and not just a gimmick.
