It’s wild to watch this for the first time having only seen Fury Road and Furiosa. This obviously doesn’t come close to Fury Road but it’s really cool to see the beginning of this world and how the style pioneered in this movie would become the absolute insanity of the latest entries in the series. Week 22: Post apocalyptic
This movie is so much fun and I think comes the closest to actually working with the grand, operatic tone that George Lucas is going for. The acting is still stiff and the writing is all over the place but at least it’s trying to be something. You could never accuse this movie of being written by committee in a board room and we really need more movies like this nowadays that are willing to take a big swing. Also, how is Disney completely unable to make a compelling lightsaber battle? Nothing they have done comes even remotely close to the Mustafar battle.
