Ambitious and imaginative, but a little too campy for me. There's a mashup of elements I liked from Snowpiercer and Okja, but just don't work as well with the lighter tone Bong goes for here (all relative, because this movie is still pretty fucking bleak). Pattinson is going to win an Oscar someday - it's won't be for this, but he shows some real comic chops and is clearly game for anything, as always. Ruffalo's Trump in Space villain, however,…

My favorite parts of the animated original are the beautiful and vibrant hand-drawn renderings of Hawaii, Stitch's infatuation with Elvis, and Ving Rhames' mysterious and fascinating Cobra Bubbles. This (wildly successful sadly) cash-grab dumbs down all those aspects, softens the family tragedy / separation drama, and seems most interested in serving up physical comedy for the kid demo. It's basically Stitch wreaking havoc on these people's lives but looking cute doing it, and I guess that was a perfect formula for raking in box office.

An unholy matrimony between La La Land and Boogie Nights, with the existential dread of a major industry transition hanging over everything, a la Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood. Even if some plots and characters are underserved, the film keeps it's coked out propulsion throughout, taking viewers on a wild ride through Old Old Hollywood. Based on his relatively chaste previous films, who would guess that Chazelle's dream project was a depraved epic where his protagonists' achievement of…

In a feat of astounding unintentional irony, Brendan Fraser says the word "amazing" like 300 times in this movie. He is the only thing close to "amazing" in a dull mess of film that really just seems like a necessary shell for an Oscar bait performance. The story is a just a series of reveals intended to vindicate Charlie and the characters around him, but all they do is reinforce that the worst of these people are their true selves.…
