tv show of the year, dealing with something like sexual assault i expected this series to be hard nosed, uncomfortable to watch and mostly serious but it's more than that while being those things. i can't say it's an accurate experience as a man but this felt so real and honest, in the joy we see the characters go through and the sorrow and it is so committed to being complex and giving no easy answers to anyone. that commitment is pushed to its absolute limit in that finale where the show moves from being grounded to surreal almost seamlessly refuses to wrap up this story in an easy way on a narrative and storytelling level. everyone needs to see this, it's super short and on iplayer for the uk people out there so no excuse. also it's nice to see black british life portrayed so authentically with no gang violence or crime, the shit that happens here is like the closest a non-londoner will get to how the black community operates here and it's shown with no apologies or explanations.
