Dune Part Two is blockbuster filmmaking at its finest. The roughness, viscerality, the grandiosity, the scope, all excel here. It’s incredible. Bone chilling, frightening, unrelenting in its constant thrill. It doesn’t slow down, not for a second.
Timothee Chalamet is the punch of this film. Every scene he’s in is striking,. But Zendaya is the center of this. Her doubts, her affection for Paul, her reactions, her instincts. She’s the audience’s mouthpiece here. It’s almost 4th wall breaking. She represents us and how we witness Paul transition from a loving and sincere warrior filled with humility, into a power hungry emperor basking in defiance and destiny while on the path of certain destruction. I can not wait for Dune Part Three.
The visuals here are breathtaking. The immersiveness of the visual effects and set pieces are stellar as well. Hans Zimmer’s score is haunting and even better than the first. While Dune 2 ups the technical achievements of Part One, I feel that Part Two crafts a much more solid story.
