‘The most profound debut of the year’. I found it anything but. The dads were really insufferable. But the daughter taught me there’s humility in treating bad parenting with patience. But still I feel like any Tom dick or Harry in second year film school probs could’ve made a more interesting movie with the same budget.
Took an edible and fell into visual paradise. I saw myself in all the characters, particularly the bird phobia plaguing the cat. There was such impressive characterisation that only impressed me further when talking to my friend about the movie the next day and she asked me if there was any dialogue, to which I only just realised, no. I normally dgaf so hard about animation but this opened my mind to it so much.
Also the animation felt nostalgic…
