Sean Baker you son of a bitch you M'Fin genius u did it again...the way he developed the character evolvement from Ani to Anora while addressing the hoax around trying to achieve the intangible American dream through financial and emotional mayhem was beautiful yet heartbreaking to experience and it's something recurrent theme in Sean Baker's world but in entertaining yet deceptive way as he shows the melancholic world around his characters belonging from lower class who takes pride in what they do but want to climb the sociological ladders through WHATEVER IT TAKES.

I absolutely adored how tense this film is after certain point of time when film was having fun with its concept and it turns upside down without changing the tonality of the film and without flipping Ani's character just for the script convenience when it turns from "happy go flow" Vanya narrative to her storyline with henchmen in the most effortlessly direction from Baker.
Mikey Maddison just put all of her energy and forced her to her limit through her physical acting in tremendously exceptional way and the desperation to see the eagerness through her body language to ascend to higher class with different set of characters was *chef's kiss* and gotta give to Baker for always finding unconventional performers to lead his film at their back and bringing out the intensity at this level.
Every secondary character did their job but two of the actors I want to give shout out is Yura Borisov who played Igor and Karren Karagulian who played Toros for bringing out the raw yet situational comedic performances which i wasn't expecting from the script and the set of actors when they enter into the frame and it completely shook me to the core the way they nonchalantly brought their A game and creating chemistry with Mikey Maddison through overlapping dialogues and various one take scenes with high octane energy through smart editing choices to make it look more chaotic and haywire.
Without spoilers the way Sean Baker presented Igor's character to show the true masculinity in subdued way without addressing through any particular sequence was brilliant and I absolutely get it why Sean Baker ended his film in the way he did cause the connection on comionate way Igor and Ani got...When throughout the film Ani denies to accept her reality of being Anora, it's the character of Igor who sees her as her real version in her trying to achieve the American dream with utmost respect and as women rather then sex object and I think Sean Baker addressed that beautifully in his own unconventional distinctive manner.
The music choices throughout the film to set the tone and the way just music comfit with production design and cinematography by creating particular colour grading to show Ani's world was beautiful and something I always expect from Sean Baker who shows his world in glamorous yet deep down in bleak way. I've a feeling this film is gonna age even better with time as any Sean Baker film and it's funny or sad that we rarely see or meet an American character throughout the film when film is situated in America where one girl is trying to find her way of getting her freedom through Russian family where she sees the brutal honesty of life. I guess that's how fraud American dream is and Sean Baker masterfully presented that...Can't wait to re-watch this film in near future till that Mikey Maddison u moved me and Sean Baker never stop doing your weird ass films like you always does. It inspires me as well to do something different which no one expects. God bless CINEMA.

First it's nice to be back to my favourite app and second of all just here to say TAKE A BOW KIERAN CULKIN for giving such a beautifully heart rending performance and traversing through someone who can come across as off putting but just like his tour mates he won all over me with the way he made points with his character's body language throughout the tour in the film and that's the beauty of his performance and Eisenberg delicate writing. The way Eisenberg created the whole setting before Kieran's character blasting over tour guide for weighing down with information over past tragedies rather then respecting and mourning for the past ancestors and EXACTLY in the next sequence the way Eisenberg gave the utmost respect to the backdrop of concentration camp in Poland through characters was just *chef's kiss* in the most poignant way. Adored the way Jesse Eisenberg's character throughout the film interacts with Kieren's character and we see the way they grieve for their grandmother by making their relationship personal and through their contrasting personalities. Very touching performances which needed slightly better character development for Jesse's character and the reason behind him the way he is could have made me little more sympathetic towards him and why he's too protective of his brother. But overall a breezy straight forward film which deals with heavy topics in the subtle way I love and liked the way Eisenberg showed Poland in such colourful way even though the film deals with grieving for Jews around WW 2 but who am I kidding this film is just KIEREN CULKIN SHOW god i missed watching him saying dialogues like he's just improvising it instantly (Welcome back Roman Roy)

Watched latest Sriram Raghavan with dad and the first thing we said after that climax was "how bloody good Katrina is in this film."

I can see the finale coming just after the first half and i knew he's gonna subvert my expectations and he did that brilliantly even with very thin plot twisted screenplay and he manages to kept me intrigued with the film's rhytm... Raghavan is a genius filmmaker cause damn the film has lot of flaws but he somehow manages to end the film in a very convincing manner. We need more directors like him in Hindi cinema. Also that quick cuts edits in first half with meet cute story was fascinating for some reason... This film is Raghavan at his most romantic and vulnerable. Sethupati might be the new Irfan Khan in town with his acting approach and that's some compliment.

Tonight, I walk with my brothers.

Just as name of the film suggests, film has pretty solid grasp throughout the duration of the film in understanding the "curse" of Von Erich family and getting to the point from the moment go and making us understand how the dynamic works in this wrestling family. Love the fact that film intricately delves into generational trauma, toxic masculinity and the poetic way of seeing wrestlers imprisoned in the RING literally and figuratively without much spending too much time on that aspect.... It's just there....

The fact that it's based on reality and from what I just read filmmakers decided to opt out more tragedies to keep film duration solid is even more disheartening. Film is far from perfect and for first hour film presents the story in engrossing way but the moment tragedy strikes and it keeps on repeating is where I was taken aback cause it felt too monotonous and even though I hate writers throwing too much information I wanted to know why this brothers are so in with their father's ion, what's driving them so crazily involved with this sport even after tragic situations one after the other but it definitely pulls back during the last section of the film which definitely had one of my fav recent sequences from any film involving that *dream sequence* (if you know what I mean).

Writing is pretty okayish with no punch at any sequences and it's all very sombre which works for the majority but like Aronofsky's The wrestler needed some hardcore energy which was missing throughout the film even from direction prospect to make it one of the best sports film in recent times.....Cinematography and Production design definitely lifts the film in some of the sequences but it's visible director is trying to present the film in unpretentious and pretty straightforward in all prospect and that reflects on acting of this stellar cast... Can't go about everyone cause it will take too many words but Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson were just outstanding and both of them understood what they had to bring in their characters to make us understand their suffering and how much they adore their family and older brother Kevin.. Coming on Kevin... Holy frickin hell ZAC EFRON this can't be you man... We have seen transformation of actors not just in of physicality but in of completely changing their acting choice but this wasn't I was expecting from him... The way he looks tired wrestler who's carrying the family's burden from the get go... The fear, the respect he has for his abusive dad, that display of gentleness behind the facade world of presenting himself as hardcore wrestler was beautiful to watch... Yes there's lot of good performances throughout the film with solid subject and pretty good direction and production but Efron carried this film on his shoulder like one man army just like what his character does throughout the film... Like I said film is far away from perfect...it doesn't delve into wrestling aspect much (I wanted little more of Kevin as athlete) but for the earnest portray of such family and showing how tough it is to carry family's legacy with no nonsense dramatic secondary storylines this film makes it great one time watch. Hopefully this is the start of Efron's revival of an actor who can delivers such knockout performances cause oh boy this performance deserves every bit of applause. Great to be back watching films. Can't wait to watch more film from previous year.

I defended Emerald with my best of ability for Promising young woman like no one else but not this time.... Absolutely has all the touch of Emerald from the first film but it felt like she took the wrong route and never realized that she's making one mistake after another cause all the way she thought she's taking the right route. On top of that God awful ending and pretty much some meaningless triggering sequences which was just stretching the plot for some reason. Great cinematography, acting and brilliant production and sound design. Quality editing but it feels shallow at the end of the day. Emerald this ain't you look at me.

If you leave something behind you gain something too.

I've never ever in my freakin life so far have seen a better film then past lives which potrays the reality of an immigrant girl who's ambitious and how it can affect her past, present and future in such excruciating way. Director Celine Song in her debutant film is confident and unafraid of telling a Nora Ephroniac storytelling in her own specific way without going at the familiar place with the love triangle aspect. She presents the modern day problem authentically to her primary characters and shows the human emotions and Celine has sensitivity towards all three major characters (Kudos to present Arthur in exemplary way). Film demands you to ask tough question like is it really the fate or the will Or the helplessness in various situations which dictates our life choices which can impact other's life as well.
Past lives is a lyrical poetry in motion and beautifully crafted picture with the highest standard the way film deals with the mature themes in understanding how moving on with life can be tough and how unforgiving and remorseless situations can be with your loved ones is traumatizing without making it dramatic and Celine executes the excruciating pain in the silence by every character in the most simplest and honest way.

Film understand that not everyone is ready to move on from their beloved memories from past and not everyone wants to cling with it either with those memories but what makes this film beautiful is to expose human tendencies to find flaws in themselves to imagine what they lack to not living the life they imagine. The way film demonstrates how with time Nora (beautifully played by Greta Lee) is growing and wants to keep moving forward at a huge cost...She has to compromise with expectations of the life she imagined but still is grateful for the life she has and Song then goes into uncomfortable trajectory asking "but is that enough" Like how Arthur says "is this the life you imagined when you wanted to come to America". I think with some films there are stages when you watch them at different ages and it can bring out different perspective towards the characters and storyline right now what I'm taking away from the film is time never waits for anyone and you can't punish yourself for the situation you wanted to see. We leave things on fate but it all goes down to will.. If it's gonna happen it's going to otherwise as hard it is you have to keep going on and respect the decision of everyone concerning to that situation is... The scene where Arthur and Hae sung in bar look towards each other and imagine what they missing from the eyes of Nora and the desire to be other person is what I love about the film... Film is delicate, sensitive and very touching in the way we all wants to become someone else to imagine a better life... The way Celine uses locations from Korea, America and China to show the wide communication and culture gap between Nora and Hae truly helps out in understanding the situation they are in. The way Hae sung keep the memories alive of that 12 year old girl even after knowing she's in 30s with different name and identity and still not stop loving her feels very relatable even though I haven't faced such stuff thankfully... That Arthur conversation is probably my fav moment where he discuss how he's the unlikeable character in this fairytale love story but I love how Celine instantly through Nora's approach makes us realize life don't work like that you just can't take a back step for all the hard work you have done so far in your life. Like Nora's mother says in start you have to leave something behind to gain something however tough it is... This film should be a great reminder that not everything goes according to our expectations and that's all right and I thank Celine Song for making me realize this one more time with this beautifully executed film which is heartbreaking unforgiving but at the same time comforting for the reasons I don't know...Also love the way we see perspective of Hae Sung through a korean and outsider perspective and how in his eyes Nora is unapproachable cause she has moved to a completely different country and how it affected him so much that he can't even see the future with different girl cause he don't think he's worth it for anyone just because of what happened to him with Nora.......Overall can't wait to watch this film down the years and to understand the film from different perspective... The hype is so justified. Brilliant performances all around. But who am I kidding this is Celine song show all the way... End of review (or rant or whatever). THIS IS FUCKIN CINEMA™ Glad I ended my movie hiatus with this beautiful film.

Rewatched the film with dad who was watching it for first time and now he's sad knowing Colin Farrell didn't win the Oscar. The more I watch more I realize the context and similarities between the feud between Padraic and Colm & the Irish civil war in 1920s. My dad's first question while watching the film was "you told me it's a comedy film but it's not, it's very depressing" And i agree this film from outside perspective feels very funny and absurd but to imagine to live and experience in that surrounding for entire life and seeing such people gives u the larger perspective. Undoubtedly one of the finest break up film ever to exist and I'm always going to be in awe of Martin McDonough's deep down character study of absurd characters. So glad dad loved the film cause it's not a kind of film my dad normally appreciates. Watching this film for 3rd time I was feeling some kind of pain whenever Jenny was on screen cause *you guys know why*... The love iration and innocence McDonough has shown through Farrell's character is just tremendous. Could go down as one of my favorite film of all time.

I'm liberated man I know crying isn't for weak.

And THE Barbenheimer weekend is upon us which I was waiting for pretty much for a year now. Before going for Oppenheimer on Sunday with dad decided to check Barbie first today and damn this film is one hell of a ride and wants to address lot of issues in the most Gerwig humour way. I still think this is far away from the film I was expecting or her best work Little women but it doesn't mean the story of Barbie shouldn't be celebrated. To see a big studio going all out on a film and marketing budget for a female filmmaker's work based around a famous toy among girls and coming up with this flawed yet genius concept is no less a great move.
Film started brilliantly with that *no spoiler* 2001 Space Odyssey homage which we have seen in teaser and film's humour works brilliantly for the majority of first half even though the messaging and the concept Gerwig is discussing is slightly on the face and have to say inconsistent a lot specially when we get introduced to "real world". Gotta give to Gerwig who at the very start gave up the heads up that this film is pure conceptual and satirical take on how we see our world through a controversial figure lens and how we can move forward to make real world slightly better. What I loved about the film is film isn't trying to please everyone Barbie is for a particular set of people which can go against the film cause it's not universal as I was expecting or the marketing made it look like but once u understand the huge swings Gerwig is addressing with in your face (not in bad way) commentary around self identity you realize this is the film we urgently needed by a filmmaker who's bringing her A-game. My issue arrives with the second half when film is building on the commentary I'm already invested in but film is pushing too much in a way that was not needed and that whole Will Farell as CEO take on putting "Barbie in a box" And America Ferrera was big time let down and wasn't hitting me as I wanted to specially that ending sequence which surely felt undercooked and not enough powerful. What film did brilliantly is examining the world we see in Barbie land and Real world and how world approaches people from different gender and realising shortcoming and revealing the danger of it in a very fun and quirky way. Little women still is Gerwig best work and I'm sure she's gonna get better and better only from here but she has to work on not losing the grip and trying to understand not getting distracted from the topics you want to address cause second half is all over the place even though most of it is very enjoyable. Music is quite good specially the opening Barbie morning sequence or "I'm just Ken" And that billie eilish song towards the end but it's the production and costume design who's getting the most limelight and attention atleast from me no film is beating Barbie in production design me think. Gotta give it to Robbie for pushing for this film and producing it and acknowledging the problems Barbie as a figure has while collaborating with WB who infact owns Barbie no way I see the film glorifying Barbie. Margot does her best even though film isn't doing a lot for her I respect her sincerity and goddamn she's real life Barbie for sure. But it's Gosling who's getting all the laugh, attention and is true MVP of the film. He understand what kind of film it is and he brings his best and raw energy and the brilliant comedic timing which we have seen in crazy stupid love and The nice guys. Every scene of him talking about worth and him addressing "patriarchy" Is surely the highlight for me. For others they did what they could do but I loved how Gerwig stitched the Barbieland world and how fictitious it is in Barbieland where she executes her directing skills which shows beautifully.

Gerwig going all out to talk not just about women empowerment and realizing the self worth but acknowledging the toxic masculinity and the emotional baggage guys carry and how one should deal was beautiful to see. Also brownie point for that starting scene when we see Barbie meeting with old women in real world and being emotional about it yea that scene was pure Gerwig genius at her best. The editing and ending I've lot of issues with specially the way Gerwig tried to close the story of Barbie's character in very underwhelming way can see what Gerwig was trying to do with that scene with self reference and I tried but it wasn't hitting at all like Lady Bird and Little women's ending. I'm not the most perfect audience for the film and I accept that but I hope people and specially guys give this film a chance and realize the deeper themes this film is talking about and the bold swings Robbie and Gerwig is taking with making a blockbuster summer film which is more then just your average big budget fun film. That's what you get when you put a female filmmaker on board cause they have original and impeccable voice which is the need of the hour and I'm all for it. Also damn that Godfather, NSYNC and specially Snyder reference was *chef's kiss* absolutely loved the different shades of Pink in this film and the way we see politics in this film with Pink house (like White house) I'm all for such blockbuster films. Well done Robbie. Well done Gerwig. Not the most perfect but a film i absolutely gonna adore cause of the bold swings and being so earnest about the topic matter. Can't wait for Sunday and Oppenheimer now. Dying to see what my 🐐 has cooked this time.

A beautiful amalgam of two of previous master Koreeda's masterpieces "still walking" And "like father like son" this film is yet another great example why Koreeda's way of representing grief, regret and contemplating looking back at life choices feels so realistic and very authentic. The way film showcases the chain of human behavior in a family with each generation is heartbreaking to say the least. Just like other Koreeda films, this film also don't follow the set pattern of writing in acts from start to end... His focusing is on showing more of the mundane life of characters rather then progressing the narrative in the most traditional way..... The way our main character is conflicted between gambling as in troubling himself and chasing the unattainable dream while self destructing himself has been beautifully executed without making it obvious through the actions and dialogue.. This is what I love about Koreeda his film flows like river and has that tranquility vibe just like how life goes. Apart from Kiarostami so far Koreeda is one filmmaker who connected with me the most when it comes to understanding the human emotions in the most accurate and heartfelt way.... That grandma's line of "stop dwindling in past and stop being anxious about future stay in present.... Life is simple" Is going to stay with me forever......The ending of this film truly ended with the most Koreeda way... It's tragic yet melancholic and still characters have some hope for a better future too. What a way to celebrate Master Koreeda's birthday... Thank you genius for giving us and specially me such a beautiful filmography. Truly one of my fav filmmakers now. Can't wait for "Monster" From this year, very excited for that.

Its going to be totally right to say that ITSV which released 5 years ago was revolutionary in the way I used to see animated films and this film made me realize there are still so many new forms we can present the film... ITSV is also well written, brilliantly directed and has out of the world visuals, sound design and cinematography but ATSV sures that because the way film builds upon from first film effectively and shows the character growth of Miles and Gwen specifically. The way film back pedal into the origin of Miles becoming Spiderman and the hard reality behind it is so phenomenally written that you buy the "canon event" Throughout the different multiverses and realizing what's at stake. The fact that the emotional connect I had with ITSV and Miles relationship with father I'm so glad to report that same goes for Gwen and her father in this film and absolutely adore the way it ended in the film and that brilliant scene where Gwen explains her situation while comparing with her dad's situation.
Coming to visuals the attention to detail which I saw in the whole Mumbattan sequence was *chef's kiss* the frames, the way of presenting India, pitch perfect liveliness and vibrancy animation and beautifully contrast of colours for different setup which made the darker tone of this film feel like watching a graphic novel at its best. And I'm so glad people are pointing out the original and refreshing soundtrack which integrates with the various plotlines very smoothly and there's this sequence towards the end where we see the chase it's one of the moment I'm never going to forget just cause the way it was executed from all technical aspect.
The way film introduces the villain Spot and made sure to make us realize how crucial that collider incident was from first film and to gave Spot the character arc was another plus point cause it's hard to construct a sequel where you are moving the story rapidly and sometimes writers can be lost in finding a bridge with the previous film but this film understood the assignment and made sure to seamless attach both ITSV and ATSV narrative to make it look like one big film Which is still not completed as we going to get Beyond the spider verse next year because of that horrifying genius and brilliantly written end 20 mins with jaw dropping cliffhanger and that end Gwen and co moment is alone to give me goosebumps.
Overall I'm happy to report that from what I was hearing that this sequels does even better job from first film is absofuckinlutely true. The film embraces the struggle of Spiderman through various spiderman from different verses and how odd one out Miles is and made sure us to realize how tough this job is and what's on stake right now and how big the legacy of Spiderman as a character overall is.
Great Easter eggs integrated throughout the film specially with Raimi spiderman films. Great job from voice cast actors and the writing and technical team should take a bow to raise the stakes on damn high level without losing out on any technical and writing aspect. Film justifies it's time length and the way editing till the end moment made us realize this film warrants the audience to have multiple viewing not cause of complicated storyline but cause how bloody good it is and I've feeling with each rewatch we are going to appreciate this film more n more. Proper emotional roller coaster ride and I'm so curious in how possible way the 3rd film is going to close out the storyline and what's going to happen to 1610 Miles.... This is a film which I'm going to for a world class theatrical experience and how much audience was vibing throughout the film..... CINEMA™

"It's a leap of faith. That's all it is, Miles. A leap of faith."

Chills absolute chills. Can't wait to watch Across the spider-verse today..... ITSV film is Eye popping spectacle and has innovative visuals, dazzling animation, out of the world cinematography, music design and world building but what stands out is the struggle Miles Morales faces as a kid and how he connects with his dad and uncle throughout the film... That personal shit is what makes the character of Spiderman so interesting which Raimi beautifully explored in his spiderman trilogy the struggle a kid faces in trying to understand his responsibility... Can't wait to see what ATSV has for me. If it's anywhere closer to ITSV I'm gonna be so happy.

The way film examine faith, guilt, over reliance of God's teaching, disagreement over your belief system in the most philosophical and stilted way this film was very tempting subject matter and have to say I was invested for the majority of the time duration. The way film starts as a standard religious drama film and then starts introducing characters who are directly challenging the Pastor's ideology and the way Paul Schrader progress the film with subdued direction and phenomenal writing in to make Pastor understand the "real truth" He has been denied by the system and his bubble life was outstanding... The way film turns into surrealist approach towards the end when he starts realizing the collapse this modern world is facing and the way he accepts the reality wasn't something I was expecting.. Indeed First reformed feels like the spiritual sequel to the Taxi Driver in various aspects with the topical issues which is going to become more and more relevant unfortunately. I loved every conversation Pastor Toller was having with Michal or himself in trying to understand the environmental issues and climate change and how the film makes you realize in how many possible ways we are neglecting gravity of the situation.. I still need to understand more of how guilt ridden Toller was and in what many open interpretation ways Schrader was trying to dissect the ending of the film and why at the end moment Pastor realizes Love triumphs over anything when our character and film was showcasing despair emotions inside him..... Amanda Seyfried and Philip Ettinger were phenomenal as duo having personal issues but let's be real it's ETHAN HAWKE SHOW goddamn I was feeling his every word my man can turn me into faithful Christian spending every church morning prayers with him and the way he played this crisis he's facing in various ways was outstanding.... The 1.33:1 ratio makes it more interesting as to feel more into this uncomfortable world Pastor is in and how challenging it is for him to face all such issues with him. Love the way film is trying to address the climate change and corporate greed in not so subtle yet strong voice by the great PAUL Schrader. Also brilliant editing and even though film is slow burn but it never felt like with the crisp editing apart from maybe those surreal moments. Need to check out more of Schrader directing works.

A shoe is a always just a shoe until someone steps into it.

Films revolving "American Dream" has pretty much formulaic and expected storyline as always at the end what matter is can you make the film riveting and enthralling and this film did for me. Someone like me who's in recent past few weeks got in love with NBA and basketball and understanding the journey of basketball players and how the draft system works I think I was very much satisfied with the final outcome as in this film even though direction and first half lacked the punch and intensity a lot and Ben Affleck as director was getting better and better with each scene but I'm going to be honest this duo of Ben and Matt Damon can work the magic out of formulaic storyline with not some groundbreaking acting cause they have some intriguing energy and great screen presence that you believe what they are trying to show and it did work here... I love the way they played with the idea of the stature of Michael Jordan rather then showing his presence it was aura of his hype and how film was revolved around it... Sure they could have shown Adidas and Converse storyline in much more competitive way but I think that works for documentary series rather then a feature length film... I don't know if Ben Affleck lacked the direction in showing the setting and Nike HQ as lacklustre as in framing or he was trying to show how Nike was during the time when it comes to g basketball players but it felt off for starting 30 mins. I think film did a great job in building a story around rookie Jordan and why Matt's character was mesmerized by Jordan and the reason behind all the business deal which happen with Jordan fam and Nike and credit goes to the editing team to cut down to 110 mins without wasting a second cause 150 mins of cliche American Dream film would have been A LOT and in bad way.... Overall I think Ben Affleck knew he's playing with a film which doesn't demand out of box execution and he made a solid one time watch with effective film around Matt Damon and Viola Davis incredible performances which deserve applause... Also learning the backstory of Nike's tagline was shocking and horrifying haha... Also some of the dialogues felt coming straight from motivational lines from insta reels but it worked for the film specially during that business meeting Matt Damon monologue scene which was my favorite sequence of the film. Overall I wasn't expecting a groundbreaking or some top tier film but I don't care this Affleck Damon duo is fascinating and I'm going to watch whatever they make cause damn their screen presence and execution is so so good. Glad to be back to watching films and I'm glad this was the one film i picked to break film hiatus.

Even after knowing every aspect of this film's screenplay structure and the insufficient answer this film provides and presents the faithful adaptation based on real incident rewatching this film still feels fresh and i was still curious to know how things culminate till the end moment just because of the rich filmmaking displayed here and not losing grip for even a second. I don't think there's lot of film i can name where even after watching multiple times and every time I've to keep focus for entire 160 mins to gather and process the information to understand the motive of Our titular character. There's lot of things have been said about that basement scene about the obsessive nature of journalism and the fault of the judicial system where we know the answer but lack of evidence can create problems in concluding cases. The way film gradually progress through three primary characters and showing the fascination and compulsion towards the case has always captivated me like no other film does. That's what Fincher can do even without the dramatic effect and breaking rules in analyzing and evaluating such an infamous character that you get the feeling how much process and research Fincher, Vanderbilt and co has done for the film and i respect that. Just like memories of murder this film is enthralling, gripping and provide us the imperfect endings which kind of makes this films perfect for sure. From technical aspect to acting performances to everything I can rarely find a fault in Zodiac and this film just gets better and better with each watch. Also it's fascinating to know Gyllenhaal has presented both side of coin for obsessive reporting with different shades but same kind of raw energy with Zodiac and Nightcrawler in the most terrific manner. Most of the times it's a worrying sign when a filmmaker starts a film with electrifying and thrilling pace cause most of the times towards the later stage of the film falls flat towards the end which fortunately isn't the case with Rye Lane. This meet cute story has everything and more and Raine Allen Miller in debut film in limited duration presented a formulaic film in remarkable way. The way film understands the romcom charm for the new generation without overdoing anything and showing Adulting from the perspective of flawed people was really captivating. All the mini adventures by the lead characters and having mini story revolving around every adventure and displaying aesthetically pleasing cinematography and production design to create the vibe was something I was having fun with. Film knows what it is doing but never goes too much out of the limit to make it look it's forcing the stylistic choice whether with writing, acting or just background choices with lighting and framing Every scene. Its a perfect mixture of vibrant, sparkling and heartwarming style in a romcom film which is hard to get nowadays. The chemistry of David and Vivian is scintillating and the way film went through last act through Yas perspective was heartbreaking.... For sure this film is Before sunrise for the people who consider themselves as the loser but in real they are the coolest Mofo to ever exist. Or as Dom says for "iconic" People... Need more of such heartwarming beautiful small budget uplifting film. Also Dom represented me and many others in that theatre crying scene. 😭❤

We're responsible for setting a peace based not in oblivion, but in memory. Not in violence, but in justice.

A solid and gripping legal drama which shows a prosecutor taking quite an impossible case in new formed Argentina against the military dictatorship and how things turns after that. First of all have to say the brisk and vibrant pacing of this film never let film became dull because of film delving into many aspect and the high speed nature of dialogue exchange between characters and A LOT of documentation details this film goes through that you have to be attentive throughout the film but in a way that's the film's weakness too cause it never settles down to go into the detailing and showing the context around it, I get film is showing through the lense of prosecutor Julio but I refuse to believe that they reached the destination in so abrupt way... It's very hard to tackle for a film into showing many aspect but then this type of courtroom drama needs to set some sort of tone through the characters for story development cause the graduation of film felt little formulaic which is just abruptly ending many aspect to reach to that end monologue scene which in my opinion is very well delivered by Ricardo Darin but it never hit it the way that scene was implying too, atleast for me. But what I loved about this film is the semi documentary presentation and not making any particular character the hero or villain and it truly felt like watching the realest depiction one could show through fictional version... Overall one should definitely watch this to understand the recent history of Argentina which has universal appeal and one definitely could connect to the story. A very well directed and edited film which isn't groundbreaking or reinventing the legal/courtroom drama genre but in the end I can appreciate the effort in telling such a story rather then loving it... Also liked the way film showed the world of Lawyers and how they see corrupt military world. Also have to say that one young lady who talks about her childbirth pain at court and the injustice she faces deserves to be applauded, even in minor role she absolutely delivered a great performance.

Also it has character actress Margo Martindale (Bojack reference) doing batshit stuff so brownie points for that. Kinda strange to know this was Ray Liotta's last work. Glad this film knew what it is and 95 mins duration was pretty perfect for a film like this. And I'm not surprised that this is based on real accident cause heyy this is "AMERICA".

What a beautiful film even though the themes I've already seen like this in other Iranian films and on top of that while watching this film it reminded me the bad indian version of this film I've already seen as a kid but the way Majid Majidi directed this film with his earnest approach and addressing various issues in the most delicate manner makes this a fantastic watch.. That end footrace sequence has my heart just the way it was directed made me emotional for the reasons I don't know... The way film showcased the struggle of siblings belonging to poor family was well approached and truly reminded me of Bicycle thieves and where is friend's house in great manner. I love this kind of simplistic and moving storytelling a lot... The film says the less and trusts the visual storytelling more which I'm in love with how Iranian filmmakers showcase them... Long love Iranian cinema... Gotta love them. Never rooted harder for guy being at third place while running... This beautiful and honest approach you just can bring from child actors only... CINEMA™

"That's the best essay I've ever read."

Darren Aronofsky you Madlad genius for presenting this film on screen. Let me be honest film is as flawed as Aronofsky is as director.... Blocking of certain scenes feels shaky and unintentionally funny where it's trying to be dramatic... But I'm going to be honest I connected hell out of this story and the direction choices Aronofsky took here with the concept around remorse, sexuality, depression, faith, religion, self loathing and most importantly the ability around his people the way Aronofsky showed that inside just 2 hours is difficult task but he for me somewhat made it possible.

See I get the way he showed some of the obsese problem is little questionable or even the much self detest he does in the film but when you look through the character's perspective it totally makes sense and as much as I deny there are people out there who sometimes rejects any kind of help thinking they are beyond help and just carry on with the life even if it's destructive. What I've problem with the film is it played more into the style of theatrical play and kind of looked way performative in of staging the scenes and entering and exiting of the characters after certain time made me little less appreciate how film is trying to showcase the daily life routine of an obese guy. Aside from that I think film did an excellent job in showing how past incidents can affect any person and can suck into a place where it's hard to get out from. There's definitely cheesy way of showing the certain scenes but for me the way Aronofsky created and showed empathy towards not just Charlie but his daughter, wife, his caretaker was very well done and appreciated. That whole literature and essay thing and keeping the character alive in his own way made a lot of sense to me and I think this is what I love about the film. Film showed a very flawed character which people might find it disgusting but it has been presented to the most raw real and in authentic way of someone's life which can happen unfortunately... Have seen lot of discourse around the film and good for them into having discussion around obesity and how it's presented on screen but for me I was on board from the first to that brilliant last moment... The way the film elevated in second half and then those last 30 mins made this film a sad yet a great experience for me.. Might not watch this film again for some years cause it felt too relatable which I was afraid of but I'm glad there's a film like this out there in world... Aronofsky is truly mad lad for putting this on screen and I'll keep defending him and this film with others... Also I don't know about Fraser but God dammit Hong Chau is sensational. Ty Simpkins is pretty great too. Can't say about Sadie sink I thought she was just okay. Fraser-Mescal-Farrell-Butler what a competition we have this year's Oscars.

To experience Cameron's epic tragic love story on big screen was a heavenly experience for me which I can't define in words as right now. To feel and get in zone in the film because of James Horner's beautiful and soulful music and to see the top notch production and costume design I don't know if anyone is operating on Cameron's level. To watch this film million times on TV I still wasn't prepared for that ending and kudos to Leo and Kate for creating the chemistry so beautifully that I was hoping for the better ending though I always knew what's about to happen. Some people were shouting there's enough place for him at wooden door but that convo for other day. 😭 grateful for this experience. Wow. Cameron you beauty. First Gasper Noe I've watched and God dammit this film is a lot. Film is shown through first person perspective and i was on board for the most time during first half but the strength as in trippy cinematography and transition b/w various flashback sequences became way too tedious and predictable pretty much after an hour and it was just matter of time for me to fast forward the film and i genuinely thought after that first 30 minutes I'm going to love the sensory overload presented by Gasper but in the name of spiritual examination film felt very shallow and even aside that i wasn't getting excited by the presentation once that main incident happened... That second half and showing different characters and situations by trying to capture all in one take with the camera movement via top angle felt damn too monotonous and uneventful. Also some extremely poor creative choices in presenting characters without giving any solid weight behind them and just glamorizing in the most unnecessary manner. I know Gasper is trying to make his audience uncomfortable and that's one way to present a story but like I said it's just feel shallow and went into problematic side to me. Though credit where it's due the way Gasper showed the tragic tale of brother and sister is quite captivating and the way he used vibrant colours in lighting to show the dark world of Tokyo specially in first half was fascinating and even though I think film on technical aspect became boring but it has do with direction and storytelling otherwise I see why Gasper is so widely popular for his creative choices and why he's such a polarized filmmaker... Maybe down the line I'll give another shot but I genuinely thought I'm going to love the film but sadly that's not the case at all... Visually stunning for most part but at the end it's just shallow for me and even on fun factor film lost me after first hour...Im sorry hardcore Gasper fans forgive me.

Evolution favors experimentation.

Shaunak Sen's poetic filmmaking is in full display with the Oscar nominated documentary ALL THAT BREATHES which wants to interact with the audience in literal and metaphorical way through the perspective of how we perceive black kites and the collapsing nature of our environment and humanity and not making safe environment for anyone and everyone.

Shaunak Sen beautifully captured Central Delhi and showcases that world and the struggle and the impact of two brothers to save the black kites which are falling down from sky at concerning rates. Here we see the uneasy nature of environment going through the crisis which we as humans are facing on daily basis but how are we neglecting it and Shaunk very efficiently amalgamate to that asepct to political and envienvironmental nature of current India. The still images, the lack of from the organizations and seeing the growth of waste around the part of India which unfortunately showcase the majority of our country. Here Shaunak through lense wants to capture the pain and wants to address the impact simple act of humanity can bring the changes in our society if we work collectively. The presentation of the film though is quite melancholic and kind of celebrates the effort rather then just addressing the issues and going way too deep into the investigative part to show the much larger picture which is kind of strength and weakness of the film but for me it does address the issue knowing how Shaunak in the most subtle way is trying to address NRC CAA protest and is trying to use the voice and tone in the most subtle way rather then being loud and diverting the other concerns but i would have loved to see the consequences of both the environment and political aspect little deeper but i was fascinated with the efforts of the brother that it never became the major concern to me but that whole Pakistan Bangladesh conversation of one of the brother to his family and deciding which country they wants to reside made me very sad and i love how Shaunak compares the lone effort of Black kites in sky with the minority groups at ground level in our country, Shanuk beautifully made us hear the news commentary which had some big alarming concerns in background but for the people it has become very normal just how it has for our concern through environment. We see, knows, acknowledges but we don't do anything about it. Credit where it's due the crew of sound design of this film did a brilliant job as well as the team of cinematographers to capture the true essence of the world through different organisms and specially the sky which in itself looks beautiful but very concerning. Liked how Shanuk acknowledges we all breath the same air and how codependent we all are to one another and to nature and we have to put the effort even if it's minimum to make a better world... Hoping the best for this documentary at the Oscar and hope the world sees this documentary cause this problem isn't just restricting the concern for India it's we all collectively are facing. That line in documentary where one of the brother says how nowadays birds have to sing in higher pitch to communicate with the other birds cause of noise pollution just broke my heart and kind of encapsulates what this documentary is about. And have to say birds are the most beautiful creature on planet and it's not easy seeing them in pain. 🥺

You know what we have to do? We have to redefine the form, map those dreams, and print them into history.

Unlike the trailer suggested film isn't as lively and brisk which sometimes work for the film during the long tranquil moments but mostly and i mean a lot of scenes felt way too overlong and that's where it was unexpected to see Chazelle stretching out many scenes cause aside Whiplash I'm not a Chazelle guy but normally i like the way he choreograph each sequence and how much refreshing it looks but that is very inconsistent in this film and specially after the first act where film is dragging and trying to cover various stuff with half baked perspective on the severe change of filmmaking from silent to sound era... Like for instance the opening debauchery or the Manny camera sequence or even Nellie struggling with sound filmmaking the long takes worked cause the story flows even in the simplest way which I don't think can say was happening with many other scenes mostly including Brad Pitt ones or Li Jun Li and specially Sidney Palmer sequence which felt very unnecessary even for side plot and not trying to find the connection to that to main story...
Even for instance I loved Diego Calva and Margot Robbie in this but I'm sorry i dont known Damien knowingly tried to show zero chemistry between Diego and Margot in storytelling perspective but it felt very odd and very confusing of how Damien is trying to show the "aspirational" Take whenever they were sharing the screen together cause they worked perfectly on their own...
The film somewhere for me had a great film and mostly a great story but I think Damien is so much into the direction and focusing on showing the fanatical take on hollywood 1920s and has so many ideas and story to tell that at the end nothing much stick together for me even though I ire what he wanted to do here but I couldn't connect myself to the theme of being in love with the idea of filmmaking and behind the scenes.
Like I already pointed out the acting is quite good not memorable but God dammit I'm going to lie if I say I wasn't loving Margot in first half and that scene where she was having face off with Samara and of course the opening but the true MVP is Diego and he's the one who's holding this film running on thin rope very beautifully and I'm really excited to see what future has in offer for him.
Also I ire how drastic shift Chazelle took with this film from La La land in showing the glamour world with quite similar themes of chasing the ion in cruel world but in new way and it still feels like completely different film even if you take aside the year setting and all. Production design, costume design and probably the best aspect cinematography is pretty much bang on with this film.. On technical aspect Chazelle always delivers and boy does he know how to do world building in trying to invite the audience but those who know me it's just layered stuff for me and it doesn't matter much if the main aspect of the film lies in storytelling and direction and how smooth the film duration looks like cause it's like I said is very inconsistent and I was really struggling to finish the film. A tight or even a screenplay which had the idea of how to do smooth transition between various acts while way better editing and this film could have been different with me but that's not the case and I'm glad that he had all the studio to make his own way which is visible here it's just I'm not the audience for the film as much as I wanted too.. In my eyes he made a masterpiece in Whiplash and he's still struggling to make as good as that film but no matter what I'm still excited for his new project. (Sorry Chazelle and La La Land fans). End note: I normally like whip-pans and push ins but I'm going to be honest it felt way too overdone and unnecessary here.... Cause for me that is Chazelle speciality in how he convey a lot of story through camera work which kinda worked but mostly it didn't. 1 star for technical aspect and 1 each for Margot Diego and also for such a film which is in so much love with films ionately can't go below 3 but yea I don't see myself coming back again to visit this film anytime soon.

And that's how sexy, unapologetic and full on bonkers and banana cinema is back... I was surprised as hell when few years ago I saw War and now with this Sid Anand is establishing himself as the coolest MF in bolly town with the way he understands the mass cinema while still having his own voice and including the naughty and sexy cinema without being cheap which was indeed missing in the recent bollywood films.
The action set pieces. HOLY SHIT I wasn't expecting that from a 57 year old superstar where most of the sequence I can clearly make out that man went through intense training to get every move right and there are atleast four exceptional action set pieces including one just with deepika and one where SRK and John goes through and then the best part which is the INTRO SCENE OF SRK.. crowd went berserk and what not... See I'm not the biggest SRK fan which kinda faded in last few years but to see the way he United the india with the power of cinema is INSANE and man you can see Sid Anand doing the fan service while including some of references from SRK old films and it works here cause Sid knows and accepts what kind of cinema he's actually putting out for audience.. Neither he's trying to fool the audience or taking unfair advantage of SRK stardom.. He has his own voice and the layers he gave to SRK and true MVP like everyone said JOHN FREAKIN ABRAHAM is way way better then hollywood mainstream cinema.. The fact that some of the people are straight dismissing this as *cheap MI fallout film Or 007* film is completely bizarre cause in those films you don't see the intentions and emotions the way this film crosses out with the background story and how characters are interconnected in what they want to achieve.

CGI is bizarre though and YRF truly needs to work on that and some of the lighting felt odd but that's it.. I had blast and people went crazy with that CAMEO.. that pain killer thing is so silly but goddamn it was funny to see two giants colliding and coming up with so much suave with that sequence. BGM and camera work is truly what I loved here as I did for War as well.. The way the camera tracks the action set pieces with brilliant editing gives you clear idea of what's happening without misleading or trying to cheeky with including stunt doubles...

The fact that we have astraverse in future (Brahmastra is fun FUCK YOU) and now solid SPY UNIVERSE I think we can have solid bollywood form coming back which I'm dying to see now.. I'm done with world cinema.. I need classic badass hindi cinema to return and it just happened today with another comeback in the name of SHAH RUKH KHAN.. I love him as an actor and he truly means a lot to others so I'm just happy seeing people celebrating him while indirectly showing middle fingers to all who hates him because of who he is.. Which he unabashedly shows in this film too... "Maa baap theatre chhod ke chale gaye".... SRK is truly special child of cinema.. And whether u hates him of who he is and he represents.. CINEMA AND CINEMA LOVERS LOVE HIM... I went expecting a good film but had no idea I was about to get actually as or even more fun I had with WAR. SID ANAND YOU ARE GENIUS. People should put hopes of reviving mainstream cinema to you not to that Shetty guy. Give him budget of Russos and hes going to give a ride of a lifetime...JAI HIND.. Pathaan ke ghar sab aaye bhi aur bhai sahab Pataake bhi laaye. Good start for HINDI CINEMA. Still vibing with film as I'm typing this... I need to see this film again.

Nothing much to say other then I only cared for the cinematography (beautiful framing for the entire film) and the black and white format and some of the music this film had but that's it. I know it's director Pawlikowski's parents story and probably it's too personal for him but it felt like watching snippets of his parent's love story and jumping to next timeline way too fast without giving any purpose to each sequence and I couldn't relate to that even for a second, the chemistry for me really wasn't working.. You could easily put the love story somewhere else and it's not going to matter much as political aspect of the film felt way too forced. The direction isn't engaging and the writing fell flat and have seen such narrative way too many times. Very predictable second and third act. I'm quite shocked that this film is critically appreciated here but I guess probably I'm not able to connect with the themes of the film like others. Film is visually stunning and that's it. Very disappointed. Two stars just for absolutely gorgeous cinematography and half for the music specially towards the ending sequence.

Kasam khoon ki khai hai, sheher nahin Shanghai hai.

Another brilliant Dibakar film but even more hard hitting and quite angry and the raw take on India's power and corrupt system from top to bottom while showing the facade of creating "new India."
For me the biggest strength of the film is how all characters from different class and ideology comes together in a story which felt so real and the flawless nature of investigation thriller where we know from the first act who's the killer and what happened while showing the felonious nature from the police and government officials and how Dibakar direction manages to brought all those factor in one story without any mess which is quite an accomplishment.
The way Dibakar uses the song "imported kamariya" While showing the speech of activist and parallel cuts to a foreigner dancing whos praising India is what the essence of the film is about in showing the fake glamour world and then it went to full form with the song "bharat mata ki jai." Sometimes the messages is quite in the face but the way Dibakar tell the story how deep the violation goes in the society and the way you become the part of it even if one tries to ignore and you either can be blind or do something about is quite a solid approach Dibakar took here. I wish the film would have taken much more time in showing the narrative around Abhay Deol's character and fully flashing how much he was surrounded with corruption while deep diving into the struggle of Kalki but it felt like more of studio interfere to not make this film for more then 2 hours rather then Dibakar vision.

I loved the way the third acts did call back to the day of accident in the most thrilling way to show the cycle of never ending loop and how casual everyone is around when one find themselves in power and the third act actually elevates the film and what we see in the first 30 mins smartly. The dark tone in cinematography and the way film portrays the infrastructure development while forgetting one section of society and showing the anger of people in union is something I've already seen but it was fascinating the way Dibakar shows their perspective of what they do and why they do to participate in this sick world.
All in all i liked the film which shows the political nature of a small town and how slowly that section eat the place without making any fuzz until something drastic happens which make people eyes open to notice the level of wrongdoing nature and exploitation from top to bottom level on all aspect.. Brilliant performances all around and loved the way Dibakar ended the film in showing that it's hard to break the cycle of wrongdoing and we need to do something about it. A movie way ahead of time but it released at perfect time cause I can't see this film releasing post 2014 at all. I need Angry Dibakar in cinema again. Also Kudos to Emraan Hashmi for doing a film like this which shows his layers as an actor even if he's not leading the film man takes the limelight.

Elvis has left the building.

I genuinely don't know what to make out of the film because neither I liked the film neither I hated the film.. There are some things to appreciate like the acting from Austin Butler who gave his all and he absolutely captured the essence of Elvis specially all those electrifying and animated performances on stage, thrilling editing (typcial Baz Luhrmann style), production design and even surprisingly Tom Hanks performance which I thought I'm gonna hate as majority hated but I think what he did suited Baz's style of filmmaking and showing how manipulating he was to Elvis and even the film as a narrator.
What I didn't like is the normal scenes of understanding who Elvis truly was away from showmanship and all the dazzling world Elvis was surrounded with, finding the real person who Elvis was, his relationship with his dear ones, the audience and the media which was played out in absolutely cliche American way and except that last 20 mins where I kind of felt for him but it's not a good sign when film is around 150 mins as I think they truly neglected all those stuff from the beginning. But then expecting that from Baz Luhrmann isn't right too as he isn't known for subtle direction but then this film required that I guess. And this film truly feels like the Elvis story but as same as Col. Parker's story as well which I wasn't even interested even if I was kind of liking what Hanks was doing. Overall I think Butler did a great job and he deserves all the love he's getting and those stage scenes and the way Baz captured the audience's reaction was cool even if after a time it felt too repetitive. Also I liked that film focus for quite a time in showing how Elvis was inspired by Black culture and the R & B music and film isn't shying away from it. But I don't know why at the later stage film was focusing on American politics which felt undercooked or it felt like just to show cause of the timeline the film is set that just didn't make any sense. So I still don't know whether I liked the film Or hated it but yea the film could have been way better and I think this was kind of miss opportunity but then it's Baz so who cares. I'm interested to know now what Elvis's fans reaction is to the film..i liked him as a singer for a long time but never had any affection so I'm curious to know the thoughts of other people.....Baz has a way to tell Elvis's story and some people are going to like/some people going to hate and I'm just in middle of it that's all I've to say.

Only when one breaks free of their thoughts will they become God.

Holy freakin shit at last i found a 5 star rating film from indian films from 2022. I don't know how to describe what I'm feeling right now after watching 140 mins of pure and spectacular cinema. The way we got to see the current situation of farmers in India through the 80 something old character Mayandi played absolutely beautifully by late Nallandi (may his soul rest in peace) was very heartwarming and moving.

The film felt like watching small small chapters from the short stories of RK Laxman (famous indian writer showing the problems of poor people in gentle way) and each character truly felt like beautifully interlace with the plot and situation with the main lead of the film. The way film showcase the trust people has on their God and faith is so pure and though someone as me who unfortunately isn't into God and faith this film still worked because the way director showed the goodness in praying and not just showing for the sake of it.

There was a time when I saw the Koker trilogy last year and made sure one day to visit those particular villages in Iran but there's new addition to that and its the small city of Usilampatti in Tamil Nadu, the way cinematographer captured the rawness and the nature around that place is seraphic.

I'm genuinely finding it very hard to say lot of things I want to say but have to say the way director showed the struggle of farmer and how far they want to stay away from materialistic things is so real and I've seen that with my grandfather and somehow that made this film truly special for me in that sense.. And to see the way director through wide shot shows how he's the only one farming in his field while everyone has already given up kind of shows the unfortunate situation arising in India. This film kind of has Banshees of Inisherin vibes and Sethupati's character reminded me of Barry Keoghan one for the reasons it's going to take a whole paragraph here to write which if someone wants to discuss can DM me.

The cinematography, the editing, that beautiful and minimum use of music just elevates the film which has already very rich form of storytelling and even better direction. This film just hits the chord to my heart and I will make sure to tell my dear ones to not sleep on this film and thank god for LB that I got to know about this small Tamil film. The way director showed the struggle of ageing farmer and how he has the hearing problem which creates such innocent moment is such a small thing but director and actor explored that to the fullest. So many of the current situation in India this film explores as in the modernization in agricultural market, deforestation, caste situation, animal hunting and the careless attitude of police but at no point it felt preachy or out of place because the way M. Manikandan has constructed this film so brilliantly.. This film isn't going to leave me anytime soon. Take a bow to the team and everyone associated with this film. Also loved the way this film doesn't strech the court scenes and the way it ended on the optimistic approach which for some reason I wasn't expecting near end. Gotta love this kind of films and I'm proud to know a film from India is as good as best of cinema around the world. This is CINEMA AT IT'S BEST. Also hell yea all hail Lord Murugan. 🙏

Not untill that last sequence, I was like yea this is a good film but for some reason I'm not able to connect with the film as much as I wanted to AND THEN BOOM that last sequence came and it all made sense why film is so tender, comionate or as film's name suggests Quiet yet soothing.
Colm Bairéad has created a film which is following similar tropes we have seen around many films with a kid in the centre who's having chaotic times during pre teens time and still director gave the extra touch of kindness, warmth and care with the 4:3 aspect ratio and using each frame to create the mood for the characters and settings in the most loving way. The direction and the usage of very few dialogue really worked for the film and i loved how director cared for small things like when dad left her daughter he just straight goes to the Guest's home while Eibhlin open the car's door for the kid to show the act of kindness she never felt in her entire life as of now. Then there was the mattress sequence, the windows one or the most beautiful "that biscuit" Thing... This film just like Aftersun isn't on the nose and it wants the audience to feel and understand the characters in the most silent way and the way cinematography by those wide lenses shows how lonely the kid is in first 25 mins and using the same kind of frames later to show that she feels welcomed by two strangers was beautiful... Far away from perfect but the way that last ten mins moved me made me realize what film was aiming for and for the most part it achieved spectacularly. The kid Catherine Clinch is terrific but it's the middle aged couple which just broke my heart with such beautiful performances and chemistry. Irish cinema truly deserves more attention. Can't wait to discover more of Irish films. And yes again will say that last "flashback" Sequence is EVERYTHING. CHEFS KISS. 🤌🏼

Do you have Katrina's number?? Go check on Vickypedia.

The Ramsay brothers films and 90s B grade hindi films style is pretty much visible in this film and the film did pretty good job with it. (For the most part).
But the worry I had after noticing the time duration before watching the film and totally feeling that was biggest disappointment for me after completing the film cause after the first half which had many smart n cheeky meta moments the film was just keep on dragging in second half till the last minute. Neither I was invested or engaged with that pretty weak story progression in second half. Would have loved dumb and dumber kind of a film with just two characters having balls with the genre cause Ishant and Siddhant are clearly having fun with the film and their chemistry is mostly good.
The desi pop culture references, the lighting for a horror comedy film and the acting aside from Katrina is quite good though. Dialogues are really fun in first half but i guess that's it. Liked the Mirzapur and Fukrey references from the excel studios and i wish the second half had the same tone and pacing as it was for first half cause that whole Atmaram plotline killed the film for me. I'm all for silly fun viewing but atleast dont drag the film in this way. This film under 100 mins would have been so much fun. But i guess that's a complain I've for most hindi films nowadays. When you have weak storyline with not much situations then don't force your film to strech it into more then 2 hours. One time watch I guess which I'm gonna forget in few days only. Also Sheeba Chadda supremacy. What a year she's having. Gotta love that.

A refreshing, artful and heartfelt presentation through the gentle eyes of a donkey named EO has been executed beautifully by the Director Jerzy Skolimowski. The way he takes his viewers into the journey of a donkey through different kind of people and landscapes to show both side of humanity was irable even if I wanted more of it. As much as I liked the concept and the screenplay structure the visual and technical achievements overshadow the writing department. The striking and haunting images through donkey's eyes when he experience past trauma or seeing the animal cruelty was truly brilliant on display and some of the wide shots of landscape and the close up shots of donkey and showing the perspective of EO while we see animals in cages or the freedom of the horses or birds was something I truly ired with the brilliant background score and sound design which complimented the cinematography and editing. The Isabelle Huppert part felt little underwhelming and the part where we see police otherwise I genuinely appreciate the filmmaking here and what film was trying to achieve in showcasing the innocence of an animal which isn't different as us humans too. I wasn't moved as much with the film as much as I ire the technical achievement here which I guess depends on how much one connects with the filmmakers execution. Overall I want more films like this showing the true horror of not understanding the animals. Also my friend EO just wanted to feel loved or just be left alone which I relate a lot too lol.

"This is what you're paying for. It's all part of the menu."

Absurdly hilarious, twisted and flavourful while scrutinizing the tomfoolery of the people from upper rich class this film felt like what if Masterchef show meets midsommar while crossing many genres meticulously while having fun with the concept which was somewhat missing in Glass onion which sometimes was trying to take itself seriously.
Mark Mylod (directed some of my fav GOT and succession episodes) crafted beautiful dark thriller film in a way where even if one can anticipates what's coming one still can feel the unease because the way Mylod and writers staged the film in a single location with the first act so nicely. The way before each round of courses Chef Julian (played absolutely terrifying yet very funny Ralph Fiennes) give long monologues and the way the whole act goes was brilliantly done and to see how Mylod created situational comedy through the customers was pure gold. Mylod knows what he is doing and is having fun with the film to the fullest and the way film presents the both side of "givers" And "takers" and the shallowness in their daily life approach and how it culminate at a terrifying night like this is something I wasn't expecting.
Every actor from Ralph to Anya to Hoult to Chau delivered great performances and the editing, time duration and music takes the cake which beautifully complemented for what film was trying to do. I won't say I genuinely appreciated the cinematography and the dialogue writing which could have used much better from that has been actor and the critic to make it as good as Triangle of sadness but have to say I wasn't expecting to be enjoyed at this level so that's just minor complain in otherwise a film with amazing style and approach. Some of the twists which we see in mid half was something I wasn't expecting and I like when film does that to create the uncomfortable vibe. The chemistry of Fiennes and Anya is impeccable too. Could literally see them having banter for hours. Overall a truly fun film which isn't taking itself seriously and the direction which deserves the praise for making such a delicious film out of not so tight screenplay. Also kudos for mentioning how covid times has disturbed the artists in a way.

No guy is worth it

What a way to start the year by watching such a beautiful heartwarming and a film which is just having fun with situational comedy in such a pure and classic way. This film could have easily been problematic and could have aged badly which I've seen with few hollywood classics but after watching three of Wilder's films I've realize man was way ahead of its time in of how to celebrate women on screen so flawlessly and giving them proper attention and not just using them as just secondary character. The film revolves around Joe and Jerry but it's as much as Sugar's story as well. Marilyn "freakin" Monroe steals every scene so effortlessly and my goodness she was such a brilliant actress and throughout the film she had such a great screen presence love the way she presented such a silly naive and beautiful character who just wants to be understood and I'm glad at the end Wilder through a character let her know she shouldn't feel sorry for feeling insecure and "no guy is worth it" To feel that way. Terrific stuff.

Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon are as terrific as Monroe and absolutely loved the chemistry and the rivalry which starts happening at second half. The way Wilder executed the cross dress aspect is commendable and it never felt cheap for even a second. Actually on top of that it was amazing to see how those guys got to know what it actually feels like a woman surrounding by men. Wilder was one hell of a director but his screenplay is something else together. Film drags a bit in second half and that last act but it never took me out of the film at all. Two hours went very smoothly and those transition editing during the yacht and dance sequence was so so well executed and felt like something I could see in a Chazelle film. Overall I truly enjoyed the film and how silly and beautiful the execution is. A great way to start the year in films. ❤

Whatever I needed to say about this film I've said it already. Watching this third time in theatre still makes me wonder how the hell Cameron executed all of this and I will never forget the day as mom and dad were watching the film for the first time and needless to say they both loved it. Dad literally asked me at the end "when is the third part releasing". I don't know how people still out in the world can say this films has " Zero cultural impact ", I don't wanna delve into it and idc for box office numbers but so glad what this film is doing worldwide with collection. Here only I saw so many people coming in theatre in Vadodara which is a big surprise to me. Kiri and Payakan are the true soul of the film but the cheers Neytiri got in the last act was something else. Will never forget this day Or December or this year for various reasons. To get that *rented room, *Cleopatra and *birthday and many more subtle reference in second viewing made it even more emotional experience for me to watch the film. Absolutely beautiful way to convey the message "love sometimes isn't enough to understand the hidden pain of your loved ones." Absolutely breathtaking cinema and however much I loved Martin Mcdonagh original screenplay for Banshees, Charlotte Wells should win this easily if we being fair. What a great use of the song Under pressure too. God dammit that sequence broke me again. Paul Mescal you beautiful performer. Gotta go I'm quite overwhelmed rn. And that's how Kubrick does it again. Seeing lot of people not iring the way film transitions to second half after that energetic and comedic first half of showing brainwashing at Marine training but the way film prepare us to show the "Joker's" journey throughout the film and how merciless ones becomes in the war time was brilliantly shown as we see Joker in perplexed ways but he always selects the wrong decision as he knows he can't get out of it and Kubrick constructed this whole feeling of "no redemption" By various soldiers was heartbreaking. From the first moment when we meet training officer Sergeant Hartman you know what Kubrick is aiming for. And the one character who shows his flaws and is sensitive "Leonard Lawrence" How difficult it becomes for him in the toxic surrounding.

I don't know what is the problem with the people of seeing the tonal shift in such incredible manner where we don't know what's about to happen and I like when directors knows how to switch the film and Kubrick for me did absolutely right after the Joker Gomer Pyle storyline.

The cinematography specially the framing in every scene is so impeccable I won't say it's as perfect as Apocalypse now but it comes very close also the one thing is in advantage of Full Metal Jacket is that the narration we hears and the way it ends you think that at some stage we are going to see the humanity side generally which we see in third act but as I already said Kubrick wants to convey once u are in war zone there's no sentiment and ion for the people from other side... It's ruthless and heartbreaking and it's the biggest consequence of any given war. And i think Kubrick beautifully established that with the perfect usage of dialogues, character arc and editing.. I just wish Kubrick would have given little more time with the American soldiers in Vietnam part to make me little more care for that last act but the way the film started and ended it's just a minor complain and that's it. Great performances by Modine who's in lead but it's Onofrio and Ermey who stole every scene on screen.. Each time Ermey was screaming or singing I was laughing my ass off.. It's not something you see in a war film and I like how with Dr Strangelove and now Full Metal jacket Kubrick uses the humour to the advantage of the film in creating interesting characters during war times. I'm absolutely loving binge watching Kubrick filmography. Little late I guess but no regrets. What a range man. UNREAL. ON TO THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

Not as flawless as some of the other Kubrick's work but on technical aspect this film is 10/10 whether it's about the camera work or the way Kubrick played out the blocking with the characters in War room Or all those plane sequences it doesn't feel like a 1964 film which only Kubrick could have executed on such top tier level. Though i wasn't fully om board with the humor for the most part but what really worked for me is how film understands the satirical comedy but the film still never lose its touch and it genuinely feels like how insane people can go in those kind of situations which can bring their insanity in the humorous way. All those president sequences and his question about the concern of America and Russia was absolutely pretty well done it's just the satirical aspect felt very disconnected otherwise this was another 5/5 Kubrick film for me. Peter Sellers truly stole the limelight specially with that small yet effective role as Nazi nuclear war expert Dr Strangelove and the way he tries to give his opinion and advice of what to do at those end moments was pure gold and one could see political experts being so selfish and insane while watching such characters. This film truly addresses the horror of any war and here Cold war that it still feels relevant of what's happening around the world right now which isn't a good sign tbh. Also bonus point for Major Kong exit, not in million ways I thought this is how the film is going to end for him... I've a feeling the satirical aspect I'm going to enjoy more in second viewing cause I wasn't expecting Kubrick tackling in such a way so I'm curious to see how film goes at second viewing as of now this is yet another film which shows the varied range this madlad genius had. Also it was funny to see "peace is our profession" Board at war room and military place while we all know what's happening in the film.

“Don’t you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?”

Kubrick's last and psychosexual drama film is way way more then I was expecting the film to explore while watching it and the way film turned upside down after that wife's confession makes this film an interesting film to keep rewatching it cause the way the film plays with dreamlike and haunting take of sexual desire out of marriage from the husband's take for one/two night was incredible and the way film plays out with various characters throughout the film while Bill's adventure was absolutely precise and spot on when it comes to a character's journey and utilizing his inner emotions to explode through his imagination or sometimes act it out in strange way. The facade which Kubrick created with this film in the name of Christmas spirit is so funny yet cleaver to disguise the character's need which is so strange that it looks so odd for the setting but somehow it add more texture into it for some reason. The camera work and that whole one take scene of secret society was some legit stuff and i can't comprehend how Kubrick came up with that sequence. All in all exceptional film and absolutely I need a soon rewatch to grasp the journey of Tom Cruise character and have to say man as much as I love cruise as action guy I miss seeing his dramatic side so much which he did exceptionally well here and in many films. Lots of layers lots of human morality through loyal relationship and sexual desires through mental state in the most peculiar way I've ever seen. It's still hard to fully grasp the film and I still was having time of my life.. Stanley Fuckin Kubrick man this film still feels like way ahead of it's time. What a fuckin great director. And I can't believe his legacy ended in such a comical way and that "particular" Word. 🤣😭 For real THIS IS CINEMA AT IT'S BEST.
