]]>After going to see the new musical adaptation, it left me longing to watch the film once more. This may be the rose tinted glasses talking but this doesn’t half hold up. Pure entertainment in the best way. Engaging characters from top to bottom. Fun artistic and design elements that make the film stand out. A stellar cast. I’m glad to see that a couple of decades later this film has burrowed into the corner of many people’s hearts. Here’s to many more to come.

]]>I beg you. Please. If you have a ing interest in this film, go see it at the cinema. In a world where I know I complain about the onslaught of I.P driven films drowning out anything else at the box office, this is exactly the kind of film people should be knowing about.
Like a good bourbon it’s smooth, smokey and with a bit of a bite.
Gangsters, Blues, Folklore of the American South and Vampires. A perfect blend.

]]>A purposeful and engaging film about dealing with difficult emotions and finding connections in unlikely places.
Sarah-Jane Potts and David Ganly make a delightful platonic odd couple.
I feel privileged to have seen this film at its premiere during the London Independent Film Festival. Catch it when you can.
What’s worse than “they did the thing” cinema? Teenage boys clapping and cheering “they did the thing” cinema.
]]>An idiosyncratic exploration of human emotional entropy…

]]>As titled, a version of this list but with a few adjustments:
Entries require 5k watches.
Entries must be at least 60 minutes long.
Films that are, or attempt to stay consistent with, the canon of a pre-existing television animation are excluded as are toy tie-in films. Essentially, the film has to come first.
There are animated films that are great examples of animation that fit the excluded criteria but, hey, this is my list and this is what I would find most useful for exploring the medium of animation further while keeping the list consistent and manageable.
If there is anything I’ve missed or is erroneously included, feel free to post in the comments.

]]>1. The cat or cats must be characters that recur throughout the piece. Cats that are purely ornamental don’t count. Things to look out for that may suggest a valid entry;
Do the cats feature in the trailer
Do the cats talk.
Do actors talk to specific cats.
Do the cats have agency within the plot.
Are the cats named.
If multiple of these elements are met, the film may well star a cat.
2. They must be performed by real domestic cats. No purely animated or jellicle cats need apply. Nor Lions, Tigers (and bears. oh my!)
3. Creatures that are performed by cats and intended to primarily act as cats even if not technically a cat by the letter of the narrative are considered de facto cats. Aliens, demons etc.
