Behold, the last truly great Wes Anderson film! His last great attempt at balancing a large cast. His last time his actors didn't feel like dolls he was manipulating. I once said there was a point where Wes Anderson turned into something of a brand. I would say by the time we reached Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel is where this really crystallized. Varda's experiences as a photographer collide with her experiences as a director. Some of the ways they describe people within the documentary gave me pause honestly. Overall though it was an interesting short, especially by having it primarily consist of photographs.
