Gorgeously filmed, not just because it’s in black & white, but also because of the way the shots are set up… creating a strangeness that transcends eras or place.
Seemingly about the life & death of a sociopath, but also open for multiple interpretations. Well done, I would love to watch this again in a theatre!

Everything about this film was great except for the narrative, which is an important part (obvs)… it just wasn’t fully realized. At the end of the film I had to go back & watch the intro again. It all made more sense, but still, some of the plot points didn’t go anywhere.

My favorite Mike Flanagan projects are where he conceives the concept & writes or cowrites the screenplay. He has a strong & likable pov.
Therefore, I’m not sure why he chose to adapt a Stephen King story? He’s probably a fan… unfortunately, this film isn’t as well founded as his others.
I did really like the dog though.

When this film ended, I immediately wanted more! That was the fastest 2 hr 17 min runtime, honestly… if this was a television series, & went for, say, 7 seasons, I would be all in.
