this is actually “when life gives you onions”

when life gives you tangerines is for all daughters and their mothers, who were also once daughters.
in the end, we all end up living as orphans. even though parents die first, their children carry on. life goes on and on.
it really showed all the ups and downs of parenthood, the countless sacrifices your parents make that you probably don’t even realize or might never realize and the story of womanhood. they knew exactly what they were doing by…
The interesting thing about this movie is: the main character, who's initially used to being alone, is introduced with loneliness after he falls in love. Love indeed brings both joy and pain into our life. One of the hardest. I am really in love with the narratology and the score of this film. You should see it yourself to know why , I am so glad I came across this film.
My loneliness is
due to people
around me who
do not understand me.
But loneliness is as well
a dangerous addiction
once you feel the peace,
you don't want to deal
with people.
“I’m glad I came out of my room.”
Why we do what we do.
Why we love who we love.
Why we keep waking up every day.
Why it matters.
“Then why do you draw, Fujino?”

lonely lonely girls watch movies about lonely lonely girls
terribly reductive to call this a Turkish Virgin Suicides, but when the shoe fits... of course, "Turkish" is the operative word there, and the film leans hard into the quirks, foibles, and restriction of its setting, particularly in regards to women ... it's also wonderfully light and dexterous when it's not crossing the line towards generic indications of evil and hypocrisy (one choice made about the uncle's character irritated me something fierce). it's a shame the grip slackens a bit in the last 20 minutes.
