Talk about a slow burning thriller.
That dream sequence has me feeling some type of way.
Crazy how they are just ripping off The Substance. Hollywood is bankrupt smh.
Some awesome effects, some weird early Zemeckis VFX work, and some hilarious performances make for an endlessly rewatchable body horror ish romp.
Saw the rotten tomatoes score was a 55% on this and was appalled. Truly ahead of its time.
5 minutes in I was convinced this was gonna be a 5 bang entry to the Rage Cage.
There is a conversation in the middle of this movie where an Asian woman who can’t drive has a conversation with a black man who says it’s okay because he can’t swim. This serves no plot purpose, and reads more like a racist observation than even a racist joke ( which would obviously still be bad).
The concept alone was still enough…
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Tried to briefly justify either a 5 or 3 for this one because I’m a wee bit self conscious of this 4 star streak I’m on, but I gotta speak my truth.
The physical comedy in this movie is top tier. This movie is a perfect slab of honey baked ham, and it’s soooo sweet. Curry of course steals the show from everyone, and Miss Scarlet could steal my heart any day. Anyways back to Curry his frantic running around the house going through the murders at the end is top tier, and I could watch 10 separate endings of the movie just for that.
This is pretty much everything you could want in a holiday movie. It’s a perfect pick me up when you’re feeling down, it’s a great comedy when you need a little chuckle and most importantly it has a stinky protagonist who just needs some love.
The soundtrack was lovely, the movie looked gorgeous and the 3 lead performances were some of the best of the year. This easily lived up to all the hype.
The big highlight here is young Robert Englund playing pervert Buck who’s rearin to… well you know. I picked this one because it’s both a Hooper flick and can fit into my gator/crocodile double feature I’ll be completing with Alligator up next.
This was so unbelievably red, so much so that it made most giallo films look unsaturated. Sometimes this really worked, like in the exterior shots of the hotel, but sometimes it added nothing to the film.
This was no Texas Chainsaw massacre in of smelly atmosphere, but it was definitely still very grimy and off putting.
A wonderfully fun movie but I feel like her love potion began to wear off by around the 90 minute mark, just not quite potent enough to fit the runtime.
This is going to be a verrry interesting episode of 70mm.
Also the TERF stuff with the director is very disappointing and I wanted to bring attention to it even if it did not impact my opinion of the film itself.
