They adapted the musical numbers to perfection, wish a little more time was spent executing on the parts in between.
I still really enjoyed it but other than some really cool set design I don’t know how much the film medium adds to this incredible musical.
Really scared the second I hit post on this review for the movie ( I STILL LIKED IT) Paige is going to punch me. Please pray for me tonight as we overcome our differences.
It has been like 2 weeks since I have gone to the movie theater and I was having serious withdrawals. Luckily not even my busy schedule could lead me to miss another meetup opportunity with Guti. The Sacramento villagers separated by only a few miles were finally able to cross paths.
Now in of the movie this has always had a soft spot in my heart. I credit this with being the first movie to really get me into both…
If you only need to know one thing about my experience watching this movie, it was that the audience groaned during the dedication to Francis Ford Coppola’s wife at the end of the movie. Imagine making a movie that is so bewildering and befuddling that the audience groans at the sight of your loving dedication towards your wife. That is this movie right here. This movie was so incredible, so unforgettable, and so undeniably horrendous that I am dictating this…

Alien: Prometheus Resurrection
This is not a dig at the movie just an observation. This thing was a clunky at times ( I’m looking at you CGI Ian Holm) but when all the set pieces came together, and the ticking clocks were ticking this flick hummed. Just a bangin wet, sticky, analog, good time.
Struggled to find its own clear identity and voice at times, was a bit greatest hit esque, but when Alvarez’s style shined through I was…
The country music was perfect in this I’m sorry. Gosh is this the prettiest blockbuster since Top Gun Maverick or Avatar 2? Looked consistently awesome. Could totally see how this was the same mind that made Minari from all the greens alone. Even the CGI weather in this movie looked incredible, give me 5 big disaster films a year if they all look this epic.
Definitely the best traditional blockbuster of the year so far ( I do not count…

Not taking credit for this idea, I think I read it or heard it earlier today. But it’s just so incredible how this script makes fun of the religious extremism letting it linger around like harmless fun until it gets out of hand and consumes everything. I just think there’s a lot of power in that concept not just with religion but anything.
Anyways this thing bangs so hard, I mean that opening with the Harkonnen floating down slowly against the red background. Just breathtaking stuff.
Scorsese got sick of people accidentally mistaking his protagonists for heroes and decided to go all in this time. Martin Scorsese is 80 years old, I thought 80 year old white men are suppose to be yelling at the news. Instead Scorsese hops out of bed in the morning, throws on his grandpa pants, and creates one of the most staggering achievments in film this decade. A masterclass in directing, writing and acting.

Don’t have a great deal more to say, I went into pretty good detail the first time. This viewing I really focused more on the sound design because I already had a full grasp on the story, and wow I knew it was good but I was dumbfounded by the beauty of it.
Also I could argue all day about why I think the women in this movie are in fact layered and well written despite many complaints. The main argument being that this is an incredibly subjective movie from Oppenheimer’s perspective, this is how HE saw these women not how Christopher Nolan sees them.
