Don’t Look Up is Dr. Strangelove for the mid-Succession, post-Trump era. Its satire is sometimes undercut by some Ferrell-era humor (and its length), but at its best it represents the best blend of McKay’s sensibilities since The Other Guys. As far as the filmmaker’s second act is concerned, I still prefer The Big Short - nothing will compare to the surprise of seeing McKay zag so hard and succeed so gloriously.
