Babylon

2022

★★★★★ Liked Watched

Heading into Babylon, my expectations were cautiously optimistic. Damien Chazelle has established himself as one of the most ambitious filmmakers of this generation, with masterpieces like La La Land and Whiplash under his belt. I had heard that Babylon was considered an underrated gem in his filmography, which piqued my curiosity. However, the trailer left me feeling unsure, it seemed chaotic and lacked the clarity that Chazelle's other films so effortlessly displayed. With tempered expectations, I hoped for a decent…

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood

Heading into Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, my expectations were understandably high. The film's reputation preceded it, with glowing reviews cementing its status as one of Quentin Tarantino's finest works. The trailer hinted at an engaging blend of humor, drama, and nostalgia, bolstered by a stellar cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie. The promise of Tarantino's signature storytelling style, paired with a vibrant recreation of 1969 Hollywood, made this a film I couldn't wait to experience.…

Going into Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, my expectations were low, and unfortunately, the film did little to change my mind. While many praised the film, I found the introduction dull, failing to hook me early on. The action sequences, which should have been a highlight, felt uninspired, lacking the energy that makes other MCU fights so compelling. The ending was equally underwhelming, missing the emotional or thrilling impact needed to leave a lasting impression. However, the…

"Thursday, October 31st. The city streets are crowded for the holiday. Even with the rain. Hidden in the chaos is the element, waiting to strike like snakes. And I'm there too. Watching. 2 years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal. I must choosemy targets carefully. It's a big city. I can't be everywhere. But they don't know where I am. We have a signal now, for when I'm needed. When that light hits the sky, it's not…

Batman Begins

Christopher Nolan is an astonishing director. He created something special for this movie, he creates a magnifically dark atmospheric world for batman. We haven't seen this since Tim Burton directed, but Christopher Nolan makes it more intriguing. Nolan puts your patience to the test with this film, you need to be patient until you get to the action. It's great that Nolan does that for audiences, he understands batman isn't just butt kicking, he understands Batmans more than that.
