DUNE MOTHERFUCKING TWO!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I live for. This is why going to the cinema can never be replaced. It’s because movies like this exist. I genuinely cannot believe what I saw on the screen. A level of craft that is rare to see in the filmmaking industry. I have been thinking about this for a whole day now which is why it took me a while to actually find the words to write this review.

“Dune” is one of my favourite movies of all time. I’ve heard all the criticisms but I don’t care. I think it’s a masterpiece. The second part of the story continues exactly where we left off, and doesn’t miss a single beat. Immediately you are immersed right back into the world of Dune. Denis Villeneuve is quite easily the best sci-fi director working today. I say this with full respect to everyone else but Denis is just operating on a different level. The world of dune is really rich and is a nightmare to adapt yet he does it so effortlessly.

Every character is full of life. Every shot is cinematic. Every line is meaningful. This movie is just so grand. We are witnessing an amazing cinematic experience unfold in front of us. I sincerely hope Denis gets to make as many of these movies as he’d like. I know it’s unannounced as of yet but after seeing this and seeing the reactions from everyone, I am very confident we will be getting “Dune: Messiah” hopefully sooner rather than later.

I won’t be focusing on the characters that had big roles in the first movie as we already knew they were great. The highlight from the new cast /the cast we didn’t spend much time with in the first movie is definitely Austin Butler for me. I fucking loved his Feyd-Rautha and I felt like I couldn’t see anyone else in the role. Javier Bardim and Zendaya were amazing of course. Zendaya especially really showed why she’s one of the best young talents working right now. Stilgar was a surprisingly funny character when he needed to be too! Something that I felt wasn’t showcased enough in the first film.

It goes without saying that the set design is insane. I wouldn’t really say this movie improves upon the first one but I’ll definitely say it’s more character driven. Paul Atreides is a character that will stay in the collective consciousness for a while. This doesn’t need to be said of course, but none of this would be possible without Frank Herbert’s amazing writing.

I can’t really analyse the film at the moment because all my mind can think of is the experience and how I really wanna see this film again lol. I thought I would have more things to say but to be honest this movie speaks for itself. Please go watch this in a theatre. all of the crew and cast who worked on this deserves our full and appreciation.
