we are so profoundly lucky that james cameron, the greatest living director of big budget action setpieces, is a sincere softie who believes in love. and i love that the framing device of this film is bill paxton (very hot in his little earring + chunky knit sweater) and his buddies, who are all somewhat heartlessly obsessed with the titanic as a technological tragedy and a treasure hunting site, getting sat down for a 3 hour story about ROMANCE!!! the great journey all boys must take in this life is getting down with the kissy parts of titanic.

i just think this movie is perfect and brilliant storytelling and i love it so much!!!!! the set up and payoff. every performance is exactly as it should be. the score! lastly i would like to say that fabrizio's excitement re: the statue of liberty is deeply warranted because every time i see her i am THRILLED!
