This how you adapt a Moore style adventure in the modern age. This movie gets so many things right that the Bond series has struggled to do in the modern era; an over the top villain, a world in danger plot, specialized gadgets, dangerous henchmen, and just a fun and adventurous tone that isn't all serious. Not to mention the action here is great, spectacular in all the right ways.
Such a shame that the quality of this series immediately goes down the drain.
I'm not sure which of the following is more disappointing:
1) Realizing at the theater that this is the weekend that Episode 3 re-released and I could have watched that
2) That the opening text was "Amazon MGM Studios"
3) Not knowing that the the theater had heated seats that I accidentally turned on making the movie that much worse

Watching Bond just at random or "a la carte" as it is seems to be the winning recipe here. Another movie that was fun and a good time. A little silly but its one of those high Bond adventures this time so we just kinda go with it.
Clearly they were chasing some of the 2000s extreme action here: surfing, parasailing, hoover crafts, flamethrower, sports cars for the bad guys too. I can't tell if this was a direct response…
