I dunno. Some very sweet, tender moments and great themes, but Scherfig sidesteps exploration for melodrama, perhaps as a comedic engine. The non-romantic resolutions left me unsatisfied.
I’m not sure how to even describe this experience. It was like a series of nuclear bombs erupting for 188 minutes. Is there a director’s cut? I want it to be longer.
Absolutely devastating. I honestly didn’t know if Lynch could pull it off and he kicked me down a flight of stairs. He turned a dark surreal masterpiece into a terrifying slice of life. A bleeding nightmare. Sheryl Lee broke my heart.
