Completely forgot to have a third act but what came before was some of the most tense, unrelenting and suspenseful filmmaking since Locke, thankfully more Under the Shadow than Babak Anvari’s previous work.

That opening scene was much more chilling pre COVID but now it’s all about the heartbreak of the survivors, Murphy superb, the suspense and the comedy somehow intertwined as one - Garland’s best script, one of Boyle’s tightest. Crowd ate this up like they were watching it for the first time.

Well, that was something special. I'm really glad that I watched The Umbrellas of Cherbourg the day before because there are clear influences from that masterpiece on Damien Chazelle. Together these two movies have made me far more invested in musicals than I was previously, with Bugsy Malone being another highlight but beyond that the list starts to get a bit thinner.
