A movie for the freaks.

I think the main theme and question of this film is punishment. We like to think that punishment is preventative or provides some type of justice for those aggrieved.  We live in a world where punishment is often seen a revenge. What happens when the punishment is enjoyed by the punished?

Antichrist

This is one of those movies I watched years ago for the shock factor back before I had a wider understanding of the world of film. It’s still a shocking and dour watch, but I found so much I enjoyed this time around.

And exploration of grief that isn’t afraid to be heavy and shocking. Makes you squirm in your seat physically and emotionally. The jarring editing further exemplifies the uneasy feelings. 

I don’t think the couple says “I love you” once to each other the entire movie.
