Danny and I don’t argue very often, but next time we do and I am over it, I am definitely going to just ✨take out my hearing aids✨
]]>On one of the 70mm episodes, Proto coined the word “painsure”. That’s where I am with these movies now. Like, I’m still having fun (I think?) But also, please make it stop.
]]>I’ve run out of words to say to review these movies. This one felt a little too long even though it’s the same length as all of the previous ones.
]]>Got my secret agents mixed up and wondered how Léa Seydoux was going to have a baby with Tom Cruise after she fell out of that window.
]]>PSH such a perfect bad guy🤌🏻
]]>It’s like someone handed John Woo a piece of paper with a list of everything that made the first movie great, and he lit that list on fire. In slow motion.
]]>Bumping up to 5 because it’s just a great time!
]]>I didn’t know this was based on a true story until it was over. All I could think was “why would I want to watch an extremely annoying man suck at something for two hours?” Sorry, Ed. I think Tim and Johnny did you dirty.

]]>Objectively I think this is probably not great, but I did giggle several times, which I needed rn!
]]>Big Miyazaki vibes throughout, but not in a way that felt unoriginal. Absolutely love a young female hero. I’m happy I gave up a little bit of sleep to watch this.
]]>Your divorced uncle’s favorite movie.
]]>Pastors and youth pastors loved to show the end of this movie for sermon illustrations when I was growing up. They left out the part where Indy and his dad banged the same Nazi.
This movie is so good and so funny. Not sure why I left off the half star last time!
]]>Dumb as hell. Put this on a letterboxd list “less than 2 hours but feels like 7”.

]]>Very silly and very funny. I laughed out loud a lot. Is Monday night the best night of the week to watch comedies? Feels like it.

]]>I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Everything and everyone looked amazing. Definitely going to revisit.

This review really articulates a lot of my issues with this movie. (although I don’t think my star rating would be this low, if I gave one.)
Based on everything that led up to the second act, it was really hard for me to believe Anora cared about Vanya that much to fight for him like she did. And maybe she didn’t. But if she didn’t, why didn’t she at least fight for more money as a “green card fee”? He says she’s going to be his “horny girlfriend for the week,” but I never once felt like she actually desired him.
Anyway. Read the other review I linked if you want.
Igor was perfect.

]]>First movie for my Borney. Some parts of this were pretty funny, but mostly it was just ok for me.
]]>This is a really beautiful film to look at, but I found the story and characters a little uninspiring. Why did she even fall for that loser in the first place? He was absolutely not worth a literal roll in the hay (in winter!!)
]]>Claire Keegan wrote one of the most melancholy characters in Bill Furlong, and Cillian Murphy was perfect for this role.
I hate to always be banging this drum, but you should definitely give 90ish minutes of your life to reading this little book.
My only critique is that I wish they would have shown more of how Bill feels free and genuinely happy with what he chooses at the end, despite knowing the consequences he’ll face. There are also some incredible lines I wish they would have worked into the dialogue as well. (“Doesn’t everybody have to be born somewhere?” To a nun commenting on him hiring foreigners) Overall, so lovely.
]]>I can’t imagine this story being told on film any other way. I can understand some of the pushback to the pov, but it 100% worked for me here. I could feel the care that was taken in adapting this story for the screen. I loved it all.
Also, my first open-caption experience. What a gift to not have to worry about missing anything!

]]>I saw this maybe 10 years ago and I’m not sure I even watched the whole movie. My impression coming back to it was that it was weird.
I loved it so much this time around!
I went to bed last night thinking about Chihiro hardly glancing at the pile of gold being offered to her because she needed to go help her friend. I thought that this is the fight of my life: to stay focused on what actually matters when every which way is an empty promise of more and better and shinier and more and more and more.
This morning I thought about the whole movie as a possible metaphor for overcoming a difficult childhood. I need more time to make my thoughts cohesive though. The significance of getting a new name, but still needing to where you came from? The ever-changing landscape surrounding you?? Granny??? Eff me.
Such a beautiful movie, regurgitating monsters and all.

]]>This was ok. A little less effort to be dark and gritty and a little more sticking closer to the original story would have worked better.

]]>While I was watching I was like wow Rupert really killed it with his facial expressions. Then I looked at my previous review 😂 I love baby Ron so much ok. George and I read through the first book during bedtime over a couple months. On to book 2! Only took me four kids to get this reading the book then watching the movie thing down.

Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine killed in this. I loved it. A great mix of humor and seriousness.
Whether or not it was intentional, you see the glimpses of how wonderful it is to just do mundane things with the person you love. After we eat our dinner we'll do the dishes together, etc. Losing sight of this, or never knowing it in the first place, is where those ugly ass executives went wrong in their marriages.
Speaking of those losers. I know affairs aren't only about sex and that relational breakdowns are complex, but every time I see something like this I think if you would put the same energy and effort into yourself and your own relationship as you do into hiding and planning and sneaking, you might cultivate something happier at home and even get laid. I know I know, that's overly simplistic, but it's not nothing!
Also did I mention all those guys were so ugly?

]]>10/10, perfect, no notes

This movie didn’t seem like it knew what it wanted to be or say. I wasn’t invested in the relationship, and it didn’t give me a compelling reason to be. Their chemistry was just off. I didn’t enjoy Drew Starkey’s acting. Daniel Craig’s body does not scream or even whisper heroin junkie. I felt like I was looking at movie sets and not a real location. I enjoyed the surreal stuff in the third act.
]]>Fear or love? This is the question I return to as I try to keep becoming the person I want to be. ♥️

]]>Elliot showing E.T. all the shit in his room is such a perfect pure kid thing. I love everything about this movie.
]]>I thought I ed loving this? But I was surprised at how bored I was at several points during it. The slowed down shots were so silly! The excitement of the fight scenes didn’t do enough to make up for every scene with Joaquin Phoenix whining.
]]>The cinematography, the score, the sound design, the casting, the intensity sizzling under the surface in every scene!! This was exactly the kind of movie I wanted to see today.
