Omg scary old convent! Omg the first girl she meets is the serious unfriendly one that warns her about the dangers! Omg then she met the rebelious pretty italian lady who smokes! Then the strict reverent mother! Then she's the bride of Christ! Then pregnancy! Then this! Then that! Then jumpscare! Then another jumpscare! Look, another one! Now she's screaming! Omg blood! Omg mortification and pious torture! More blood! How unexpected and revolutionary...
I feel like when referential genre cinema takes itself too seriously, it turns out lowkey bad. This has a good starting point and wants to do a lot with it but ultimately comes out shallow. If this was the Tarantino of Nunsploitation cinema then it would be just fine, but this way it's a cliché mess.
Sydney Sweeney is so beautiful, she's a good actress but has such terrible diction? Can't take valley girl nun seriously, so it was throwing me off as well. There are also some nice looking scenes, like the super fun montage when they used the Red queen kills seven times soundtrack! Wasted potential.
