The first half hour of this movie was genuinely funny. It worked. It made me laugh. No one is more surprised about that than I am.

But once the characters entered the frufru fantasy world of minecraft and blocks, and bad CG, this movie was dead to me. No thanks. I'm out.

Despite that, seeing Jack Black and Jason Momoa have such a dang good time together was strangling endearing, and to his credit, mmc held his own, too.

The female characters (aside from Jennifer Coolidge, OBVIOUSLY), I'd have written out of this thing entirely. They obviously weren't having as much fun, and they can't be blamed for that, really, but the most they served to do was distract and slow the plot.

And don't come at me for this. I'm a woman, I'm allowed to have this opinion.

Anyways, decent experience overall, and far improved by the little kid sitting in front of us that made Minecraft villager noises every time one was on screen. If he ran for kid president, he'd have my vote.

Pleasantly surprising, with a great deal of heart and comedic moments that actually made me laugh. I went in with sub zero expectations and then came out the other side having had a better movie experience than I've had in months. Mostly, I think I just appreciated that D&D wasn't trying to be anything it wasn't or take itself too seriously. It wasn't made to change the world or reinvent the wheel. It merely exists for some fun, some laughs, and a good old fashioned adventure.

Compared to the last few Marvel movies I sat through, I actually did somewhat enjoy this one. But at the end of the day, the truth remains that Brave New World lacked the heart and humor that once defined the first gen Marvel brand.

At least there wasn't a God-awful musical sequence in this one, though.

Cute! Fun to see a 2D animated film amid the sea of bad CGI. Some good gags and payoffs, but left with the overall thought that this movie would have been better suited as a 35 minute short.

For having never seen the first movie, I sure did enjoy this.

The style was heartwarming. The Brits were Brittishing. And Paddington has my whole heart.

At first I thought his name was Tucker and I'd have given this a whole extra star were that the case because that'd be so silly goofy but nope, no, we can't have nice things, not anymore, not if it's Disney, bye-bye silly goofy.

I was in fact, entertained.

Ok not to sound like an old man who sits around all day falling asleep in my recliner and griping about gas prices but honestly, I watched this and thought, "well damn, they don't make 'em like they used to".

Instead it's all sequels and remakes and... Minecraft live-action?

Better than Wish. Guess that isn't saying a lot tho. In a horrific twist on fate, found myself missing Lin.

So I actually liked this one. So sue me. As an aside, why did men stop talking like that? I really think vernacular hit its stride in the American 40's, is all I'm saying.

A rom com about faking the moon landing? Say less.

If you get secondhand embarrassment you probably won't make it through this movie.

On the other hand, there's a surprisingly thoughtful theme throughout-- but I was cringing too hard to properly enjoy it.

A+ aesthetics with surprising heart-- even if the beats felt a bit predictable, which we can forgive thanks to IF's unabashed originality.

This movie made me the hungriest I have ever been in my life and inspired me to eat a 5 course rat snack, which was baller, and arguably better than the film itself-- which was very strange and had an ungodly amount of product placement.

The untold story of Temple Run.

The Fall Guy was self aware and funny. It had a solid arc, great callbacks, and a clean ending. Up against the other films I've watched since 2024 began, this was a hit for me.

Part of this four-star rating belongs to the series as a whole. Hilda is all the things an animated show should be: cute, whimsical, and full of heart.

Even the callbacks had callbacks. When do we get Nice Guys 2??

Not sure this should've been made, but enjoyable nonetheless. Mostly, it just made me want to rewatch the first movie.

Still thinking about Madam Web a week after I watched it and that's how you know they sure Did Something with this one.

I don't even know if I can pick a single favorite thing about this movie (so many, too many) but to name a few:

* Every single time the villain (Ezekiel) opened his mouth and spoke and he sounded like Kermit had a love child with an early dysfunctional version of Seri. Sexy.

* Whenst Ezekiel had a one-night stand and woke up his lover in the middle of the night to tell her about the dreams he has where he's murdered and also blond??? (just like cute quirky things you know) and then proceeds to tell her "I'm gonna murder them first though don't even worry about it".

* The entire ending. I have never laughed so hard in my life this week. Except for when I rewatched Surfs Up saturday.

Bonus points: Madam Web lying still as a corpse in a hospital bed from various unspecified injured, and telling the nursing staff that the three ethnically diverse girlies maybe 10 years younger than her are all "hers". Ok Ms. 50 shades. Guess you started young then huh.

These movies are incredibly cozy but some times they're just a little too weird even for me, and I feel that's saying a lot.

I liked Totoro except for that one moment where I dead-ass thought he was gonna eat Satsuki.

"Do you play the beautiful game? Bro? Brothers? ...Bretheren?"

Honestly me if I didn't the athletic capabilities of a mostly dead but clinging to life bit of roadkill.

What a perfect Valentines film.

You don’t even wanna know how much I was rooting for this movie. So imagine my disappointment when it sucked.

Some ~mild~ spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution.

First— I honestly think humor could have saved this film. It had a lot going for it— an original story, a quirky world, spies, Henry Cavil (to name just a few) BUT:

*the humor fell flat. When you have a movie this absurd the writers need to know how to make a joke. Truly, you can forgive a lot in a film if it can make you laugh. Only… Argylle just wasn’t funny.
*it was soooo long. Two and a half hours? No ma’m. You pound one lecroix and suddenly you have to pee and it’s been an hour and a half and it’s only the midpoint?! The last act dragged on for a million billion years. I was bored, I was annoyed, and
*I kept thinking, “surely, surely there won’t be any more plot twists. Surely we can wrap this up in a tight little bow….” and then— POW! BAM! Another plot twist. Another Bad plot twist. It was exhaustive. It was never ending. I just wanted it to be over already.
*literally no one was likable. Sorry, but you can’t throw a cat off a building and expect me to think you’re cool. Elly, the protag, was fun, until her character lost trust with the audience (in one of the earlier plot twists…) and then it was like, "who even are you?" In a tragic turn of events, I liked her better before she went through her character development and became a generic baddy with a superiority complex.

The real bummer is that in a sea of remakes and sequels, the world has never been more in want for solid original films. Then said films come out, and they aren’t even that great. For the love of all that is good, and funny, and enjoyable to watch… please do better.

I was laughing at parts of this I'm pretty sure weren't intended to be funny. Sorry, Miyazaki. I'll be better, I swear...

I want to touch everything in this movie but specifically the scrapbook and the caterpillars.

The filmmakers really thought they were doing something, putting an Australian shepherd in Australia--but the joke's on them because despite what the name may lead you to believe, the dog was believed to originally have come from Spain so... they obviously did not do their research.

Whimsical and colorful and somehow nostalgic to a time when movies just wanted to have some fun. So sue me, I enjoyed this.

Timmy is still a Weird Kid tho.

Like I know this was a romance movie, and I went in knowing that this was a romance movie, but the romance still came out of nowhere.

Hardcore dug the Patagonia product placement. Too bad it wasn't LL.Bean

3 Reasons I liked this move

1) Even I could survive a monsterpocolypse if I had a dog that good. That was one hella good dog.
2) Solid rockstar cast. Shook-baffled to see Mr. Yondu from Guardians make an appearance.
3) And lastly-- Love&Monsters genuinely surprised me. It was fun and it was heartfelt, and Joel left the movie a better person than he started-- and realized some good things along the way, too. There was character growth, surprisingly solid special effects, and sweet takeaways. And a dog. Did I mention the dog.

It sucks that this L&M came out right when covid happened because I honestly think it deserves to be more than a shai surprise in the bowels of Netflix.

Not to get too real on you guys, but I'm fairly certain this is the peak of cinema, and no, I will not be taking questions at this time.

I accidentally waited 22 years to watch this, and I'll not deny that wasn't my finest move in life. Especially when you consider all the absolute garbage I've seen in the last 6 months alone.

A few thoughts:
*I miss the movies that don't tell you what to think, but certainly beg you to think, all the same.
*Having gorphed down my fair share of Sci-fi this past year, it's interesting to note all the movies that pulled from this one-- aaaand, most of them were pretty unsuccessful.
*Probably watching this on YouTube TV on my little Macbook with pixels the size of bad pores and commercials is enough to make Chrissy Nolls weep, but I find I'm comfortable with my decisions all the same.
*I can finally look people in the eyes and tell them I've watched Interstellar. No more guilt and shame. And all is right with the world.

This movie was a fun romp. The remake didn't bother me so much because it was a musical. It won't age well, though-- the integration of so much tiktok, snapchat, filters, et cetera really dates the story. I think that's its biggest downfall. The best movies are the ones that feel timeless.

Even if all I could think about for most of the movie was that boat race in Stuart Little, The Boys in the Boat was a heartfelt and nostalgic movie for a time I've never existed in and a sport I previously knew very little about-- aside from that scandal a few years back, of course.

While I wish we could have had a little more backstory on each of the teammates, and perhaps a little less of whatever was going on with the teaser and end cap scenes (the old man and his grandson), overall, I effortlessly enjoyed this movie. Especially when it is pitted against the other swill I have been watching as of late. Compared to Gran Turismo and Wish, this is a masterpiece.

There's something about the story of an underdog overcoming and winning against all odds that resonates with most people, I think. I'm not the exception.

And, of course, nothing makes a person feel more American than seeing a bunch of college boys from the pacific northwest piss of adolf hitler himself.

I liked this better than Migration.

Also lmao because Disney's Wish had no short film but Illumination's Duck Movie did? How far that mouse has fallen.

I just really think we need less of Awkwafina in these things.
