An intriguing sci-if conceit that isn’t fully exploited in hopes a half-baked romance plot will carry the weight of the drama.
It’s a shame because the actor’s are committed: Gyllenhaal is affable, Farmiga and Monaghan are winning, and Jeffrey Wright in particular must’ve been huffing some paint before filming. Duncan Jones’ direction is surprisingly engaging given the train trappings, but the script is just what es for a mid-level Black Mirror episode.
