An intriguing sci-if conceit that isn’t fully exploited in hopes a half-baked romance plot will carry the weight of the drama.

It’s a shame because the actor’s are committed: Gyllenhaal is affable, Farmiga and Monaghan are winning, and Jeffrey Wright in particular must’ve been huffing some paint before filming.
