I like to imagine this is the backstory of every greasy restaurateur 

Surprised by how much this feels thematically connected to Royal Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic, with Wes returning to his focus on family, found or otherwise

congratulations Andor, you’ve turned Rogue One into a movie I’ll just keep watching and hoping maybe this time it’ll all comes together for me

Incredibly stunts and Tramell Tillman/Katy O’Brian are pitch perfect additions… but what happened here? It’s fitting that this came out right after Andor S2 because not since Rogue One have I seen something so clearly hacked together- the first hour is genuinely damn near unwatchable

Love seeing coward Tom Cruise, love the sense of humor and time loop stuff, it’s even probably Emily Blunt’s best role- I just find the aliens/scifi plot insanely thin and the early 2010s ‘oops all brown’ color grading hurts my eyes, it’s not a compliment that this film keeps making me think of Elysium when I watch it

god what a picture, the fucking music gets me every single time

Perfectly fun, which by current MCU standards is like a cool glass of water in the depths of the Sahara

Inspired to make an MCU film that plays to the found family tumblr Avengers fandom

incredibly low production quality, closer to a vlog than a film in my estimation- but an incredibly interesting and important topic, I thought the content was quite compelling here and appreciate the light shined on the Mississippi Delta Chinese community

I always connect this and 10 Things I Hate About You in my head, mostly that’s because they’re similar vibes around the same time- but I also think they both are very good ing the city, be that San Fran or Seattle, prodigiously and giving a real sense of space that I so desperately miss in the green screen hell of 2025

incredibly Cinema Verite, makes you feel like a fly on the wall.

I can’t help but feel like it’s a full circle moment when compared to Nanook- the former a staged Inuit story by an outsider which played into cultural biases yet birthed the documentary genre versus a fully Inuit production, done in Inuktitut, which tells an epic tale and offers the opportunity for this culture to tell its own kind of story 

Absolutely transportive into an enduring way of life, but also never loosing sight of the messy petty human dramas that unite us all, a beautiful film in its entirety

as a rare Flintstones/Dick Tracy defender there was probably no world in which I disliked this, but I genuinely think it’s a lot of fun and has some incredible stuff going on

Marlene Dietrich and Anna May Wong have such powerful energy, meanwhile Clive Brook is there

What more could you even possibly begin to say

whew wrong point in life to watch this one- as someone stuck in the hell between graduation and finding a viable career the existential malaise is hitting a little close to home
