NOT referring to things that fall more directly into "supernatural" or "horror". This is more on a thematic, symbolic level. Characters that seem to embody some kind of specific fear/menace, which makes them feel otherworldly, even though they probably aren't.
This is one of my more personal, gut-level lists. I'm having a hard time trying to articulate the parameters. It's pretty instinctual. But I'll try.

1) characters that are not supernatural but still seem to embody something otherworldly, elemental.
2) characters that might be supernatural but you can't be 100% sure (aka there is some ambiguity).
3) characters that there is doubt whether they actually are supernatural or not for a good portion of the movie (even if…
