“It’s getting dangerous to be poor in this country? Isn’t it?”

“It always was.”

A true American epic that has so many moments of greatness, but I thought ultimately it just didn’t all come together like I wanted it to.  Very curious to know what Cimino took out of his original 5 1/2 hour cut.

A truly, truly abysmal movie in every way and it has now accomplished the incredible feat of making me think that I was far too hard on Expendables 3, which now looks like The Godfather by comparison.

This was wilder and wackier than I expected. To call the kills over the top might be under selling them.
Felt like Oz Perkins was maybe trying to channel a little bit of Sam Raimi, and that got me thinking “man, if Raimi directed this, we might have a real classic on our hands” but instead it’s just really good. Would like to see Perkins continue to cut loose more in the future, because this feels like he had a real fun time making this one.

RIP Norm MacDonald. Truly one of a kind.
