Godzilla vs. Hedorah

1971

★★★ Watched

The Shōwa era is weird. I've seen four movies of it, and outside the very impactful first Godzilla, all the other ones were campy, ridiculous movies aimed at a younger audience.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah is still very campy, but I think it is my favorite after the first Godzilla because, first of all, the story doesn't go in a ridiculous direction, and it is pretty straightforward, and this movie actually has a lot of style.

It's a trippy one, with…

The Bewitched House

1907

★★½ Watched

It has this first movies charm when you can feel all the efforts they put into making some practical effects. Some effects are pretty smooth for the time, especially the lunch scenes with the stop-motion. There is no story, just special effects

I thought the characters' clown makeup was actually the creepiest part; the rest is just a little spooky, nothing more.

2005

★★★½ Watched

It's been now three Ishii's movies that I watched and I became a fan of his dreamlike lo-fi direction. The score, the camera, the fixed plan, and the pace they're etherical, yes, it's even the case for Electric Dragon but in its own way.

Love, Death & Robots: 400 Boys

2025

★★★★ Watched

Love, Death & Robots is known to give you some deep shorts about the themes listed in its own title, but 400 Boys is just pure style, no substance.

That said, what a style! I loved the very urban feel of it, with roller-skater girls fighting with hockey sticks, street fights. The terrifying giant babies were as absurd as cool-looking, especially when they started glitching.
