Agree with the other reviewer who called this the SCREAM of the franchise. It does feel very meta at times. Was surprised at how comedic it was. Instead of horrifying and being gritty, it's more gratuitous gore and deeply funny. Quite enjoyed it.

Can't really review as I only saw the first 20 mins on YouTube. Looks like this may be a lost film, or it just hasn't been ed anywhere. It's a shame as what I watched was fairly compelling. Absolutely epic mountaineering shots. You could really get a sense of scale. This is an early Harald Reinl movie from 1951. Would love to see the rest someday!
The camerawork and soundtrack have no right to go as hard as they do. Released in 1970, CHARIOTS OF THE GODS was a pretty massive shift for director Harald Reinl. Look at what he'd done immediately prior: a trilogy of Jerry Cotton movies to end the series, a final Winnetou movie, and a couple movies that look to be comedies.
