Not since the first Mission: Impossible have I felt that balance being struck between the narrative, the espionage and the action. Tension builds brilliantly. McQuarrie marries style to the set-pieces in a way that is just beautiful. The history of film is alive in Rogue Nation, and it makes it all the better.

Sean Harris’ Solomon Lane is long due perfection as the shadowy foil to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.

I fucking love this movie so much.

Absolute masterpiece.

Can I say something crazy? I like Ghost Protocol a lot, but having watched Rogue Nation a day after and before writing this review, my thoughts are changed. And not for the better.

My very first Ghibli film as a little kid. And still my favorite all grown-up. There’s just so much magic to Kiki’s Delivery Service.

When ‘A Town with an Ocean View’ kicks in, I’m convinced that it’s the greatest picture ever made.

I can’t believe so soon after Johnny Guitar I’m already falling in love with yet another operatic masterpiece. A ballad put to celluloid. It’s a treat when we get a genre picture that so earnestly explodes out into the canon of film. A perfect example of what a blockbuster film can and should be.
