Rewatch for me, first watch for my dad. His verdict? "It was alright" Which is his reaction to most films he watches. When pressed further he said "It wasn't owt special. I liked all the details" I think that's the best summing up of this film really!
Previously (and you can read my first review here) I lamented Tarantino's decision to forego storytelling for a pure hit of nostalgia, yet knowing what to expect on this revisit, I wallowed a bit more in his glorious retro stylings.
I wonder is the first half of this the reality and the second half a dream? Think about it, could Dalton really have pulled it out of the bag so much on the set of Lancer to not only earn the praise of his precocious child co-star but also ensure the patronage of Schwarz? Maybe the reality slips away here as Dalton berates himself in the dressing room....
