More classical than Shivers and Rabid, less bloody but more personal. Special effects and make-up are quite cheap, but the movie has so much more to offer : intelligent direction, sadness and anger about couple, filiation and family, that makes it sometimes stirring. The last 2 shots are hard to forget. Something of an early Cronenberg classic.
