really excellent and fun. alvy manages to be both charming and grating (him telling annie “another Balzac novel finished” after they have sex is the type of annoying thing that made me laugh). Not sure if I’ve seen a movie capture the nature of relationships from their start to their dissolution so accurately. I also related fully to annie hall just as a character (also chuckled when she was very recklessly driving alvy upstate). I haven’t been in love in a long time and sometimes you forget what it’s like. this movie reminded me of that feeling which was nice.
an empty uncaring world with a thin veneer of politeness covering it all. played with some of my expectations in interesting ways, this all consuming black void taking hold of more than just our main character at unanticipated points. i like the idea of ghosts in this movie in the abstract - they themselves seem to amplify this all-consuming void, they appear to us as nothing in their form but their emptiness is all encoming, fully palpable. the main character's…
