]]>Trauma porn for grieving parents. Absolutely bonkers movie
]]>No Bakshiβs bestβ not even closeβ but theres a good movie somewhere in here hidden behind the screaming and the hamfisted tropes.
]]>Zardoz without guns, plot, or Sean Conneryβs ass
]]>Watched on Tuesday May 27, 2025.
]]>Absolutely bonkers. We need to bring back exploitation films.
]]>Masaaki Yuasa will be ed as one of the anime greats. Mark my words. A heartwarming and vibrant exercise in humanism with bonkers visuals. I had only seen Devilman Crybaby before this but I guess after this I can no longer put off Tatami Galaxy any longerβ¦
]]>I will differ from popular opinion on this one and say that this, more-so than any other Cartoon Saloon film is the one made most for children.
I say that because it presents a very facile version of life in Afghanistan in the early 21st century, but I think that it does its job well in of forcing Western children to acknowledge that PEOPLE live there. It unfortunately does not do much more beyond that.
]]>Very Zardoz and Brazilesque in the beginning, very βFBI at your doorβ at the end. Perhaps I should've watched the censored version?
]]>I might be missing something here but this left a lot to be desired. Its deeply Satoshi Kon, but it almost feels like an afterthought compared to his other work.
]]>Rearranging my letterboxd lists using the dewey decimal system
]]>Itβs funny because one of the top reviews I read for this movie was complaining that it was βBrickβ but worse in every way.
For me, it was what Brick shouldβve been. Itβs a fucking high school detective movie. Of course you should make it more like βSuperbadβ and less like βThe Wireβ
]]>Brad Renfro plays himself and Mischa Barton successfully blacklists herself from any non-american roles in the future.
]]>I love how no one even gave a shit about anyone that Debbie killed in this movie. Like not a single missing persons report, nothing.
]]>Jesus christ that got dark
]]>For every talking to bugs in the swiss countryside there is an equal and opposite drowning in maggot infested corpse pool β―οΈ
]]>I have no idea why this is as obscure as it is. There are so few summer camp movies, and of the ones that do exist, so few good ones.
This one is crazy, fever-dreamy, and nostalgic as fuck. I have a feeling it got blacklisted for its subject matter too so if that piques your interest, I suggest you go check it out.

]]>At some point, it becomes bearable. It turns into something that you can crawl out from under and... carry around like a brick in your pocket. And you... you even forget it, for a while. But then you reach in for whatever reason and - there it is.
]]>Cinema died when they stopped making movies that looked and sounded like this.
]]>Genuinely horrific. Tom Ford is 2 for 2 in my book.
]]>still kinda hated that this turned into capeshit but I really like the animation and world building

]]>Alex Garland discovers feminism
]]>Edge of Tomorrow Starship Troopers crossover episode
]]>Watched on Tuesday March 11, 2025.
]]>Edited like a robot chicken episode, studded with an absolutely unnecessary, useless, and badly cast ensemble of like 50 A and B list stars with three or fewer lines (guess they had some leftover money from their 100 million dollar budget) and completely undecided in its bias towards nuclear war with the most tactless ending of all time that essentially amounts to βda wowld is witerawwy endingβ¦ da fuqqqqβ
That being said, Cillian Murphyβs performance was great, and it delved deeper into the political aftermath of the bomb more than I anticipated which was nice because Learned some stuff that I didnβt already know. I also like that this was treated more like a drama than a thriller or action movie given the sensitive subject matter. I likes it a lot more than I thought I would.

]]>the least believable part about this movie is that the protagonistβs friend group is straight
]]>Gia tried to channel Cassavetes but ended up channeling Sean Baker with this one. Some great performances by Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dave Bautista this afloat but itβs more clear now than ever that Palo Alto will probably be her only truly great project.
Why Billie Lourd still gets hired is genuinely baffling to me.
