Masaaki Yuasa will be ed as one of the anime greats. Mark my words. A heartwarming and vibrant exercise in humanism with bonkers visuals. I had only seen Devilman Crybaby before this but I guess after this I can no longer put off Tatami Galaxy any longer…

I will differ from popular opinion on this one and say that this, more-so than any other Cartoon Saloon film is the one made most for children.

I say that because it presents a very facile version of life in Afghanistan in the early 21st century, but I think that it does its job well in of forcing Western children to acknowledge that PEOPLE live there. It unfortunately does not do much more beyond that.
