It’s not necessarily a bad film but it lost me completely with the last two stories.

I did love the production design, cinematography and score. Honestly might be some of the best I’ve seen in a Wes Anderson film yet but the story just honestly disappointed.

It’s a real issue that we’re dealing with, and Mountainhead perfectly showcases that all of this power is not only becoming harder to identify but is being put in the hands of people who barely understand the damage that it can cause. Armstrong does a genuine good job of giving you a laugh, even during the movie’s chaotic climactic moments, but also does a great job of instilling fear into you, making you realise that this isn’t just some fictional story; it’s the harsh reality, and most of the people watching this film are likely to go back to social media and continue absorbing and believing the fake news they consume.

Ballerina is a great addition to the World of John Wick with its ice-breaking, bone-crunching and gut-spilling action. Len Wiseman brings a fresh set of eyes to the franchise with his style, offering a great balance of storytelling and action that hasn’t been felt in the John Wick series before.

Ana de Armas is the perfect fit for Eve, and she kills it in her best action role yet, portraying a character that’s not only lethal but nuanced.

The movie is nicely paced with phenomenal camerawork that stands out and set pieces that topple the early days of the John Wick franchise with stunts and action sequences that feel unique to Eve and her Ruska Roma upbringing.

Its ending might feel stale and boring in comparison to the rest of the franchise, but this is still a film that kicks total ass.

Lilo and Stitch is the embodiment of everything that Disney represents. It is without a doubt one of the best Disney live-action remakes and is easily the best family movie of the year. The meaning of ohana has never been more important than with this film as we get more depth with Lilo and Nani’s sisterly relationship.

Maia Kealoha shines in the spotlight with her breakout role, perfectly encapsulating the essence of Lilo, bringing both tears and laughs with her performance.

There are some scenes which feel like a 1:1 recreation, and there are also new additions, some welcome and others questionable, as character dynamics are switched around.

If you’re a fan of the original, you’ll appreciate what this film has to offer and how closely they’ve stuck with the messaging with its changes. If this is your first time with Lilo and Stitch, prepare to have a new obsession.

Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning is the Avengers: Endgame of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

This movie is an absolute spectacle to behold on the IMAX screen with set pieces that are some of the best in the franchise. It’s action-packed, tense and absolutely jaw-dropping.

Unfortunately, the film can feel rather sluggish with its exposition dumps combined with the odd editing choices that make it feel like you’re watching A New Hope.

The finale is breathtaking, but when stripped down, it’s just a grander version of the Fallout finale, which ends up feeling like it slightly lacks in originality.

I'm very curious to see if this stays my favourite MCU film/project during this rewatch. It'll always hold a special part in my life, and it's the first MCU film to really step out the barriers of what these films were capable of.

It feels more like a political conspiracy thriller than it does a Marvel film. How the Russo's achieved this and then slowly went downhill from here, I'll never know.

I also couldn't help thinking that this would work perfectly as the story for a Mission: Impossible film. That's all that was on my mind.

This isn't a 5/5 film, but it's very close to one. I believe Steve and Nat going undercover and coming across Zola slows the film slightly, and I hate how Zola is just used as a throwaway villain. Aside from that, the rest of the movie is strong.

I really loved this film when it first dropped aside from what they did to Ilsa Faust.

Let's talk about some issues. It takes 30 minutes before we even reach the title credits of this movie. The Submarine and the scene in the desert feel pointless in the grand scheme of things as we get flashbacks to those moments later on and are also recapped about the events although it's the same film where those events just took place. The Washington DC scene would've been a great scene to have opened up on, caught the audience up with what's going and then cut to the title sequence. I'd even take a shortened version of the desert sequence.

How Ilsa Faust is handled doesn't sit right with me and feels in bad taste after where we leave her in Fallout. It's a poor ending for her story and her alongside Rebecca Ferguson deserved so much more.

That aside, I think this film has a great story with a unique and intriguing villain being the Entity. There's not much interest in Gabriel and feel like the personal connection with Ethan doesn't really add anything to the overall plot of this movie. Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff are great last minute additions to the franchise as Grace and Paris respectively and I can't wait to see more of them.

The score is the grand standout in this film, specifically in the moments leading up to Ilsa's fate with Ethan trying to catch up to her. What was a slight disappointment is that the set pieces don't feel like that much of a spectacle after coming off a film like Fallout, The train sequence is outstanding and the car chase in Rome are the only points worth talking about when it comes to stunts and set pieces. (The motorcycle doesn't impress as it was shown in its full glory in all the marketing and doesn't really land the same after a second or third viewing.)

I think it's a solid first part with its flaws but I have faith that Final Reckoning will be everthing we wanted out of this film and will bring this story to a satisfying action-packed and emotional conlcusion.

We’re here for the second Mission: Impossible marathon and it began with Ghost Protocol.

If you wasn’t persuaded with how cool Ethan Hunt was, this film proves that even when he’s disavowed with no one to back him but 3 other agents, he’s more than capable enough.

Simon Pegg getting more of a ing role in this than what felt like a guest role in 3 is what was deserved. He’s hilarious and really brings something that was missing to the whole dynamic of Mission: Impossible.

Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton were great additions. It kind of feels criminal that Patton didn’t return considering she is actually the first woman in Mission: Impossible that isn’t just  bogged down to a shitty love interest for Ethan.

From Burj Khalifa climb to Sandstorm chase in IMAX at the BFI IMAX, I couldn’t ask for anything better.

It's crazy to think that they had Chris Hemsworth as Thor, great casting, and just wasted him numerous times.

This isn't the worst Thor film... anymore, but it's still a bad MCU movie. It has terrible writing; visually it doesn't look great, although you can tell they're trying to land with a dark and gritty style to fit the Norse world of Thor. The villain is once again uninteresting, which is currently back-to-back failures for Marvel at this time.

Loki stays being the only character who seems to be written well enough and feels like an actual character in these films.

It's one of the weakest films in the MCU, and if memory holds up well, it's the weakest film in this second phase.

Similar to The Incredible Hulk, this film does have a great score with Into Eternity by Brian Tyler being one of my favourite tracks within the MCU. So I'll give props for having a good score that does genuinely elevate some scenes.

A return back to the first film in the MCU that dealt with trauma. It still played it safe in a lot of ways, but it actually allowed for this Iron Man film to feel different from the first two.

I think AIM's use in the MCU is unfortunately wasted (give us that soft reboot) and Aldrich Killian as a villain was extremely weak. I could also talk about the use of The Mandarin in this film, but that would be an honest waste of my time.

What this film truly boils down to is Tony Stark finally having to deal with who he is without that suit of armour and what actually makes him a hero. He's facing a battle with himself throughout this film, and the moments with him and Harley are some of the best.

The third act, while cool, ends up looking pretty bad with the Extremis power set on full display, and the CGI is honestly not the best. This movie does make me wish that sometimes we got to see how the fallout of some events affected the characters mentally. Some of the best projects in the MCU deal with that. If only it wasn't for the poor villains, CGI and overall story with the US military and President and this film could've easily been considered one of the greats.

This is a movie that’s made for the fans that have stuck through 25 years of “storytelling.”

It’s best watched in a packed crowd on an IMAX screen to experience the ludicrous blood fest that this film is. While the kills stay surprising, they never reach the heights of their predecessors, and their continued use of CGI in 2025 for kills only adds to the total wackiness of them.

I will always hold this film dear to my heart, as it was the first MCU film that I got to watch in the cinema. An experience that I won't forget. But when you rewatch this film without nostalgia clouding your mind, you begin to notice some glaring issues, which are largely just some of the dialogue.

The Avengers brings together six people who all have great arcs throughout this movie. There is a balance between the characters on screen, with a returning villain who finally gets to work with material that allows him to feel like a threat. From this movie alone, Loki and Iron Man are two standout characters. An honourable mention being Bruce Banner, as the film slightly dips into how he mentally deals with the Hulk and the suicidal tendencies living with the Hulk has brought him.

As said before, Marvel tends to make good team-up movies compared to their solo ones, and with the release of Thunderbolts*, that hasn't changed.

As this brings the end of Phase One of the MCU, it's safe to say that Iron Man stays the reigning champion of this phase, and unfortunately the weakest link was The Incredible Hulk.

I am so sorry to all of the sequel trilogy haters, but it was never The Last Jedi which ruined your precious franchise.

The only real downside to this film is how they handle the storyline with Finn and Rose Tico. It's not necessarily bad, but it really slows down the movie when we're getting strong developments between Rey and Luke.

The film starts to open up interesting discussions surrounding Rey's heritage, her connection to the Force and to Kylo Ren. These ideas are further amplified once we reach the Throne Room and get that shocking moment with Snoke that leads to one of the best visual battles that this movie has to offer.

The tension from that scene to the hyperspeed scene and finally the final act on Cait. It's one of the best third acts in a Star Wars movie and deserves more respect. It's one of the best-looking Star Wars films and has a great story that, unfortunately, as we know, doesn't have the greatest conclusion. John Williams kills it with the score and has just outstanding direction from Rian Johnson.

The movie takes risks; not all of them work, but a lot of them do. The Force Awakens haters wanted a movie that was original and different. The Last Jedi is exactly that, and yet you still complained. Take each film as it is and stop allowing The Rise of Skywalker to taint the achievement behind these first two films.

I’ve always liked this film and never got the force hate it received after several years.

It’s a solid start to the sequel trilogy and I recently got told that it rhymes like poetry with how each first film in a trilogy follows similar story beats.

The action is great, the twists are well executed and Rey’s journey is set up perfectly. While I do wish Finn was better treated as a character, I don’t have this film or truly even the next to blame for his characterisation.

Supreme leader Snoke is a looming threat where his presence can truly be felt and Adam Driver’s performance as Kylo Ren is one that will always stay with me. He caught my attention when the trailers originally released and completely met my expectations.

Now onto my favourite!

With this being the third and final film of tonight’s marathon, it was quite difficult to stay up but I pushed through.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman stays being one of the best villains out of the entire Mission Impossible franchise. The film is still entertaining and some good action sequences such as the bridge attack.

There’s still no interest for a character such as Julia, no background and is just dropped into this film as the fiancée/wife. It felt weird considering there’s no mention of Thandie Newton.

The rating has to go down just ever so slightly for that reason alone. It’s not believable how hard Ethan Hunt is trying to protect this “love of his life.”

It’s not a surprise that women weren’t written well back then when they barely are now.

This movie is a complete fever dream.

Like I want it to hate it but I’ve come to that you enjoy it more when you accept it as a campy action romance.

That third act is ridiculous and feels like a parody version of Ethan Hunt. He’s never had aim like that since this film.

A film full of betrayal, twists and turns at every single corner.

I think what I love so much about this film is you question Ethan’s stupidity not to realise he’s being conned only to discover he knew the entire time.

I also kept thinking Emmanuelle Béart looked a lot like Ana De Armas…

This used to be my favourite film within the original trilogy but has been dethroned during this rewatch by Empire Strikes Back.

I think what has changed is there are a lot of moments on Endor, specifically with the Ewoks, that just slow down the film for me. It's thanks to how well this film ties up loose ends that it is such a great film and close to a trilogy.

It has a great opening and an explosive and emotional ending, but everything in between just isn't as great.

Ian McDiarmid, while not having that much screentime, always impresses with how great a performance he delivers as the elusive and threatening Emperor.

Those final moments between Luke and Vader will be some of the best in the entire series, and it's safe to say that George Lucas was great at writing and not too much at directing, which is why the original trilogy is much stronger than the prequels.

She was shocked by how depressing it was but loved Yelena and Bob and gave it the same rating as I did, which is rare from her.

Also, FUCK YOU to the guy next to me who was just on Tinder or stalking women on Instagram Stories and moved away from me when I told him to put his phone away. Don't go to the cinema if you can't have your phone in your pocket for a minimum of 2 hours.

This is the movie where you begin to realise how great a villain Darth Vader is. This is the pinnacle of what Star Wars is and still to this day stands as one of the greatest sequels to release.

I usually bounce back and forth between this and ROTJ. I've come to with the fact that this movie just works better with its pacing and has much more going on for it. From the Battle of Hoth to Luke's training with Yoda to Bespin and the battle between Luke and Vader. It keeps your heart pumping the entire time, and I'm hoping one day that I can watch this in the cinema.

It’s genuinely not a bad film. Elizabeth Reaser, Walton Goggins, Pedro Pascal and Lois Smith all deliver great performances that help with the extended dialogue scenes.

Those scenes could’ve done with being slightly shorter and the film handles how women are seen in Hollywood quite well with the three women of different ages but it still feels like there’s something missing from this that’s holding it back.

Thunderbolts* is EASILY one of the best MCU movies to release since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that has been able to replicate those grounded character studies which make the best of the MCU feel so relatable.

It’s intimate, funny and touching and makes the “misfits banding together” trope feel fresh once more. It doesn’t shy away from depression or mental health. It’s one of those films that deliver an all-star cast that just bounce off each other so well, but Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman have some of the best chemistry and a story that will pull at your heartstrings.

Not to forget, some of the best visuals seen in a Marvel film in an extremely LONG time.

So this still remains a tad better than The Phantom Menace but only because it feels like a tighter film.

I still stick by my words and say that this film is more bearable when you’re playing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

I’ve watched the Prequel trilogy in such a backwards order but overall the Prequel trilogy is messy. It slightly reminds me of the issues Lucasfilm is having now with filling in the gaps between The Clone Wars, the Original trilogy and what comes after.

Thankfully, this movie can be entertaining at times but I feels sold a lie after being hyped from the trailers.

A lot of the kills happen off screen or in a shitty montage.

The jump scares feel like they derive from a PG-13 film and overall this just feels like a subpar version of what the game was.

Starting to think I’d rather have just had them follow the original story and kill off whoever they wanted to throw everyone off.

The pod racing scene is iconic, but does it need to be ten minutes long???

Just give me the Darth Maul cut and let me go about my day.

I have to be honest, I didn’t love this film as much as I wanted to.

I’m a huge fan of The Raid and The Raid 2 and love what I’ve seen of Gangs of London. I thought this would be at least on a similar level to Gangs but it’s far from it.

Gareth Evan’s Q&A really did help contextualise some things I wasn’t too fond of but it doesn’t change my overall opinion of the film.

The story is convoluted and messy, it’s hard to feel attached to characters they want us to care about and Ellie deserved more screen time as Jessie Mei Li’s performance as her was great.

The action was the standout of the film and that’s to be expected from Evans. It takes an hour to truly kick in but when it does, it’s gory, fast paced, snappy, gritty and overall just badass. I just wish the story could’ve been better as this easily could’ve been a film that I loved.

The highlight of the Q&A was that Gareth Evans revealed that he’s announcing a remake that he’s making in roughly two weeks. I wonder what it could be.

There’s no denying that this is quite a silly film, but it’s an enjoyable one that still manages to be tense and entertaining. I thought Meghann Fahy was great; I wish we got more out of Violett Beane, and Brandon Sklenar was genuinely just alright.

I love how they handle Violet’s backstory and how they open up the film in general. It had me thinking it was going to go in this cliche, predictable way, but thankfully it didn’t, and they went for something rather original, which 100% helped the film.
