]]>We Got about halfway through and told my partner “I truly will not be surprised by anything at this point.”
And then I was surprised by a fair bit more. Outrageous / awesome movie. Cinema.
]]>Glad I avoided even the trailers for this.

]]>Art the Clown up to his usual antics. Didn't like this one quite as much as Terrifier 2. The avenging angel bullshit in that one really worked for me, and while I liked the angle of bringing Sienna's trauma more to the fore in this one, that's really kinda all there is - aside from, of course, the incredible effects and extreme gore etc etc fun fun (kinda wild that this was the #1 movie when it opened lmao)
]]>The best film in the series. Made me cry.

]]>So, so dark and rainy, foreboding and probably the scariest and meanest of the Friday the 13th movies, but also carries with it a real and lasting sadness. The kids making new connections and sparks of romance, so full of life, and then there’s the strange but moving suggestion that some great evil, some sense of trauma and grief and vengeance has been transferred to Tommy. The horror bites, the images have impact, a pitch blackness mixed with the 80s pastels of the Air BnB before Jason starts snuffing out the lights.
Probably the best one of the series.

]]>High on its own farts and way too convinced of its own cleverness to be anything other than obnoxious. Equally unfortunate: might be extremely misogynistic / anti-metoo. Willa Fitzgerald is phenomenal in this, and is innocent.

]]>CINEMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
]]>Verbinski was COOKING
]]>Please, no more non-diegetic music in found footage horror movies. Some good scares and use of space, manipulating the viewer's eye, etc etc, though.
]]>When did these start leaning into that weird head replacement CGI and non-diegetic music?
]]>Watched on Tuesday August 27, 2024.
]]>Still not sure about this one, I'll come back later on.
]]>Verbinski would cook even harder after this, but this rules. Wish Disney would let filmmakers make good movies now
]]>Every shot is perfect. Would've watched another hour of them sitting around silently. You cannot make a movie like this better than this.

]]>Pacing really threw me for a loop. A lot to dig here but a lot also felt like a lotta edgy film school 101 stuff. Wonderfully acted by everybody though and the body horror stuff really worked. Idk overall.
I bet if this had been like 3 hours long I would’ve loved it, or if I’d seen it maybe like 8 years ago. Idk. Pretty torn. Also was super funny - “there is nothing wrong with you” had me in stitches
]]>It’s either this or Returns as the best Batman movie of them all. gets better every time.

]]>Is she safe? Is she alright?
]]>That shot of Anakin and Pe slowly being pulled into the light. The prequels are GOATED man
]]>The final battle with all the moving parts and pieces, the best lightsaber duel in the entire series - a ballet of light and sound, all the world building in every single frame. Absolutely incredible to take in on the big screen again.
]]>Snyder apologist, for sure.
(need to revisit his DOTD remake, haven't seen it since I worked at a car wash and watched it piece-meal, forget nearly everything).

]]>Not a single bad movie in the series, which makes ranking them an exercise in futility.
]]>Idk, something like this for now.
]]>Long live crazy/traumatized/abusive Loomis in 5.

]]>I like 2 a lot.
]]>I'm a Mannboy. I love every single one of these.
Brotha, you are going down.
Love me some Finch
]]>(Re)watching all of his movies. Ranking as I go. Very good filmmaker.
]]>When it comes to comedies, you always want as much John C. Reilly as possible.
]]>Very good pop-horror craftsman/showman and really good at spooky maximalist haunted house stuff.
This of course makes it all the more hilarious that arguably his best movie is this jovial batshit bonk-bonk superhero film.
]]>Cinema!
]]>Fun escapism movies. Good adventures. I read the books growing up as a kid and while I prefer those to the films these work quite nicely when you don't have a week to set aside for some wizarding adventures.
Ranking as I go through this most recent Quarantine Rewatch. Subject to change and, as per usual, there isn't a lot of fluctuation in quality after Azkaban, which is clearly the best film (although I have a huge fondness for Order of the Phoenix).
This is fairly rough and thrown together for fun. And it has been a long time since I've seen some of them.
The "great" ones (in my book) are the top 10.
I have not yet seen: Finding Dory, The Good Dinosaur, or Brave.
