Showed this to one of my good friends - this isn’t the type of movie he usually watches so I can’t emphasise enough how elated I was when we came out and he said he dug the shit out of it. The feeling you get when you show someone you love art you love is unmatched. What more can I say about this film that hasn’t already been said though? Peak horror atmosphere, even more monumental experiencing all its glory on a 20-foot tall-ish screen.
Longlegs lacks an overall punch from the script, and its pacing throughout the runtime can feel inconsistent, especially venturing into the final act, but my gosh, does literally everything else hit the spot and stick with you. Monroe is magnetic, everything you’ve heard about Cage is true (one of the best horror performances I’ve personally ever seen), and Perkin’s direction, the sound design and cinematography all work in symphony too to create a thoroughly and deeply disturbing atmosphere you’ll find…
