I should try even harder to go into movies without any expectations. That means no reviews, no videos, nothing. As dumb as these films have always been (including and especially this one), having no sense of how bad or good Dominion was all for the better.
This probably won’t age that well, but I can’t deny how great of a time this was. Personally one of the better blockbusters in recent years, and definitely my favourite of the trilogy!
Longlegs lacks an overall punch from the script, and its pacing throughout the runtime can feel inconsistent, especially venturing into the final act, but my gosh, does literally everything else hit the spot and stick with you. I will it, it did get a bit worse on second viewing, and now I actually think that it’s on par with the original. Yes, the movie does feel a bit rushed (imo), and there are some questionable moments here and there, but the direction and performances made up for most of that jazz. Solid sequel!
Overtly maximalist and teetering on the edge of being comical… and somehow it all works for me? I dunno, this realistically shouldn’t be rated as high as this, but I think I love this franchise too much to care how insane this movie gets. I know everyone is mentioning the submarine and biplane sequence, but there’s two fight scenes that intercut with each other around the midpoint of the film that I adore just as much.
What a way to kick off the year! Huge fan of everything Eggers’ has done so far (haven’t see The VVitch yet), his visceral, historic but masterfully helmed approach to film-making is something that will definitely cement him into one of the greats if he continues.

Completely and utterly flabbergasted on how much I loved this, but I should’ve never underestimated it in the first place with Gerwig at the wheel. One of the types of movies that I could probably go back to any day of the week, not think too hard, and just have a blast watching. A lightning in a bottle film, and I truly, truly mean that. Margot + Ryan = cinematic perfection.
Wow. Jonny boy’s outdone himself. So many emotions ran through me watching this thing, and all I can say is the damn hype paid off. Insanely enjoyable, surprisingly gritty at times, and packing one hell of an emotional punch. I was considering only giving this 3.5 stars since it does get somewhat convoluted around the 2nd act, but my experience watching it was filled with so much joy that I just had to add an extra-half star. A near-perfect blockbuster!
