Watched this like 2 weeks ago and just logging it now - I loving it! Uncomfortably hypnotic. Charles Melton is as good as everyone says.

The musical version means a whole lot to me, so I'm not really surprised I found this to be such a blast. Just pure insanity from start to finish which made me love this story in the first place.
The costuming, lighting and set design do a great job in portraying the dirtiness and hopelessness of Skid Row, and the performances are as over-the-top as you can get with a film like this.
I will never not love the prologue theme song, PERFECTLY captures the lunacy that comes after and just sounds so freaking good.
It’s a countless number of miles away from perfect, but I don’t think that’s really the point? All these stories aren’t the most cohesive group together, but there’s this little thing connecting each of them called ‘love’ that has and will continue to bring me back to frame one.
There are a couple parts in here that are genuinely quite shit, but pretty much the rest use love to an astoundingly compelling and endearing extent. One of my favourite Christmas…
If there’s anyone who can make even the quietest moments feel the most powerful, it’s Sciamma (credit to the cast here as well). Filmmaking with sincerity and creates that down-to-earth, warm and fuzzy feeling entwined inside basically every frame that’s a rarity to experience in a movie nowadays.
