i'm not gonna lie i liked this one even more on the rewatch. philip seymour hoffman acting opposite tom cruise really is a dream come true as both actors are absolutely perfect in this. the characters in this one are all great and i really enjoyed the story,

relax luther, it's much worse than you think.

an incredible start to one of the best movie franchises. brian de palma's directing was so good in this, there were some camera shots that i was still in awe of even though i've already watched this. tom cruise shows how no one else could've done ethan hunt like him since the very first one and i love his character so much. also an extremely entertaining watch and got some really cool spy stuff that the others don't really have.

a dancer who relies upon the doubtful comforts of human love can never be a great dancer. never.

a movie that was so far and ahead of its time its insane to think that this was made in the 40s. clearly served as a source of inspiration for black swan in of giving your all to your craft and the lengths you go for it. the visuals are absolutely gorgeous, so full of colour and the music is so beautiful. that ballet sequence especially, felt like a dream. truly just incredible and so ahead of its time.

and here's hoping we kill bigfoot on the way back.

seriously was not expecting this movie to be so incredibly sad. the first hour brings you into the amateur boxing world, building up to rooting for maggie rising against the odds, only for that second hour to just break you. freeman, eastwood and swank are all incredible in this and were all deserving of the awards love they got for it. eastwood as a director is also great here, clearly pouring so much love into this picture.

i really thought this was one of those old time rom-coms for the longest times but i couldn't have been more wrong. a film on how each and every person has different wishes and desires and how they clash with society and it's restrictions at that time. it's highlighted especially by the very huge contrast between blanche and stanley, being so different that it's impossible for them not to clash on basically everything. brando gives a great performance as one of the biggest pieces of shit i've seen but it really is leigh that just gives her all as blanche dubois. all in all a pretty good watch.

what the fucks going on

an actual travesty of a movie. there isn't a single thing that actually works in this movie, except for jenna ortega being a good actress. now i like the weeknd's songs, in fact he's easily one of my current favourite artists, but damn does the guy not know how to act. if you had told me this was directed by a cardboard box i would've believed you. the writing was laughable and made the movie feel even more dragging. easily and obviously worst movie of the year so far.

2025 cinema

i've had one motto which i've always lived by: dignity. always, dignity.

i think this is the fastest i was ever convinced that i need to rate a movie five stars. it's the type of movie that has you smiling from ear to ear throughout the entire runtime. absolutely astounding on every single level. the directing was perfection, the writing was beautiful and the visuals were insanely gorgeous. i was genuinely in awe of the use of colours throughout the entire movie. dance numbers choreographed to perfection and soundtrack is so good it won't leave your head. the entire cast is at the top of their game here but it's gene kelly that absolutely shines. he is a showman through and through, mastering singing, dancing, directing and also giving such a beautiful performance as don lockwood. truly cannot think of a single thing to complain about, a masterpiece to the fullest extent.

you were the chosen one, it was said you'd destroy the sith not them

after two alright movies that serve as the first and second installments of the prequels, we are finally back to star wars at its best. this movie is insane on pretty much every level, especially that third act. even though the writing isn't the best, there are so many beautiful lines in thisthat i really found it so hard to choose a quote to include in my review. the visuals are also extremely beautiful, although there is some shoddy cgi here and there but it's still aged really well. the score is also absolutely legendary in this.

hayden christensen continues proving what a great cast he was as anakin skywalker. watching his journey into becoming one of the most iconic villains of all time was tragic to see. it gives you so much more understanding of why darth vader came to be, the tragedy of his quest, so blinded by love that he doesn't realise he's losing everything. i now truly get the hype for ewan mcgregor as obi-wan kenobi, his performance in this is absolutely crazy and is probably the best performance in a star wars movie this far. natalie portman also shines in her final performance as pè amidala, making the tragedy of the forbidden romance between anakin and pè all the more heartbreaking.

all in all an absolutely insane and perfect conclusion to the prequels of one of the greatest trilogies of all time and a movie that i will definitely be rewatching more and more.

i don't think there'll ever be someone who was born to play a role as much as christopher reeve as superman. he embodies the similarities and differences between clark kent and superman so well. kinda insane that its been almost 50 years since this released and there aren't that many comic book movies that just perfectly capture the vibes that reading a comic would give and translating it so well to the screen. you can tell how much love and ion for the character was poured into making such a perfect adaptation. margot kidder and gene hackman as lois lane and lex luthor were also amazing castings, especially kidder cause you could truly feel the chemistry bouncing off the screen between her and reeve. for truth, justice and a better tomorrow, there will always be a man in the sky to look up to.

death doesn't like it when you fuck with his job

honestly a really good return to the franchise that gives you some of the most irrational fears ever. like most of the other final destination movies, it was a really entertaining watch with an insane level of tension and creative kills. the camera shots were really cool and the acting was great. easily one of the best entries in the final destination franchise and tony todd is the absolute goat of the franchise, may he rest in peace.

2025 cinema

i’ve been dying a little bit each day since you came back into my life.

although it has some pacing issues and some corny dialogue, it is definitely a step-up from its predecessor. some of the visuals in this are gorgeous and i think naboo is one of the most beautiful places in the entire star wars franchise. anakin is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters and i loved seeing his romance with pe in this movie, honestly hayden christensen and natalie portman were perfectly cast. can't wait to watch revenge of the sith now cause i've heard its one of the best movies in the whole franchise.

maybe i'll live so long that i'll forget her. maybe i'll die trying.

orson welles you goddamn mastermind. such a captivating mystery film with gorgeous visuals and amazing camera work. seriously, the close up shots in this are just so beautiful. welles gives a great performance, even though his shot at an irish accent is hilarious, but rita hayworth absolutely shines. the last 5 minutes of this movie are also actually insane, so much so that they made me give this movie an extra half star. welles really was so ahead of his time when it came to filmmaking, a master of his craft.

always do the right thing

such a powerful and influential film that is still extremely relevant in the world we live in today, over 30 years later. spike lee's directing is absolutely amazing in this, the camera work is so good. the writing in this is masterful, managing to balance so many different themes and taking the time to properly flesh out the characters and make us feel like we were there with them on that hot summer day. the things that definitely stood out to me and made me sure i had to give it five stars was how vibrant and colourful it was, not only in the cinematography but in it's characters too. the characters all just feel so alive and real, like you actually know these people personally. all in all incredible commentary on race and society and the fact that spike lee directed, wrote and starred as one of the main characters in this just shows how in a league of his own he is.

are you an angel

definitely a major step down from the original trilogy but its not bad bad, it's just alright. so crazy to see one of the greatest villains of all time be such a nice kid here. i really liked the race scene, absolutely impeccable sound design and so much fun. duel of the fates was absolutely beautiful to hear and the character designs were really creative. other than that, i felt like the writing could've been better and the humor didn't work that well. still pretty excited to see where this trilogy goes though.

i think something very important is happening and it's deeply connected to my purpose

robert pattinson is such a great actor man, the way he just easily adapts into every single role he takes on and brings his all everytime just shows how he's one of the best working actors today. the score is fucking amazing and adds to the already anxiety-inducing plot. the safide's directing is also so beautiful in this, from the camera work to the neon lighting to the cinematography, everything is just so beautiful to watch.

somebody, please, get this man a gun

i love how they constantly remind you how john wick killed three people in a bar with a pencil. the action in this is fucking spectacular and so is the cinematography, easily the biggest highlights of the movie for me. can't wait to watch the rest of this franchise.

legit such a shining jewel in the dust of most recent marvel movies, you can tell how much love and care was poured in this one. james gunn gives the guardians team he built over the course of a trilogy such a beautiful send-off, each character having their ending in their own special way. the writing and directing are just simply beautiful and it's portrayal of found family, love and loss. the soundtrack is also one of the mcu's best, just banger after banger. couldn't any better way to close this chapter of this guardians team.

yet another masterclass by wong kar-wai. the directing, camera work and visuals are just so fucking perfect man, he's just too good at his craft. a story on love, loneliness and the complexities of human relationships beautifully acted out by the entire cast. the soundtrack is also extremely good, wasn't expecting that to be the type of music in this film. everyone is truly at the top of their game in this and it just makes for such a perfect movie.

truly one of the most visually beautiful movies i've seen and a pretty good adaptation of shakespeare's macbeth. s mcdormand and denzel washington truly give it their all in the roles of lady macbeth and macbeth but denzel is just too good man, watching him recite shakespeare and giving such an amazing performance was just so much fun to watch.

but before the sun went down, i think that was the best day of my life

somehow it was even more beautiful on the second watch. seriously, when people talk about films that are life-changing when they're seen in theaters, this is the prime example. i need more coogler and göransson collaborations asap.

i truly don't know where to even begin with this review. man, what a fucking picture this was. went into it with extremely high expectations and knowing nothing about it besides michael b.jordan playing twins and it being about vampires, and not only were those expectations met but they were absolutely sured. ryan coogler truly shows how he's a master of his craft with this movie, insane filmmaking and you can tell how much love and care he poured into this.

the cast, holy shit what a cast. every single person is at the top of their game and all portraying their characters perfectly. michael b.jordan is so insanely good at portarying the twins smoke and stack, bringing out both their similarities and differences perfectly. the fact this was miles caton's first acting role is still something that is crazy to me. delroy lindo deserves a best ing actor nomination and wunmi mosaku gives a more subtle yet extremely powerful performance, i need to see more praise for her.

the writing was amazing, managing to bring a new and refreshing take on vampiric folklore. the cinematography is fucking gorgeous all throughout, from the first scene till the post credits. THE SCORE, man oh man i don't think i'll ever stop singing ludwig görannson his praises cause he really deserves it all. miles catton's voice is also so powerful, hearing him sing was beautiful. there's one sequence in this that legit had me lost for words throughout it all. this was literally such an experience, a picture that is meant to be seen in theaters. this is what cinema is all about.

what's the most you ever lost on a coin toss?

this is easily my favourite of the coen brothers' movies so far, it's just so well crafted. bardem nails the role of a psychopathic killer perfectly, seriously one of the most chilling performances i've ever seen. tommy lee jones is also insanely good in this. the slow pacing and a lack of the score were great creative choices, really adding to the nervousness and uneasiness vibes of the film. the screenplay is absolute perfection and with roger deakins as cinematographer, it's no wonder that the visuals in this movie are absolutely gorgeous. also that final act man, still thinking about it now.

i am a jedi, like my father before me

god damn what a ride it has been watching the first star wars movies. i don't know why it's taken me so long to get to these, but i'm so glad i'm finally getting into them. although it didn't fully live up to the epicness of the empire strikes back, it's still a gorgeous film. i felt like the pacing was particularly slow in the beginning but as soon as you get past that, it's just star wars at its peak again. luke skywalker is easily one of my favourite fictional characters ever, i loved his development in these movies and his relationship with vader is just too good. the same beautiful cinematography, amazing writing and great characters the previous star wars movies had are still present here, making it such a fitting and beautiful ending to one of the greatest fictional trilogies to ever exist.

holy fucking shit. they really took everything that was so good about the first movie and somehow made it even better. everything in this movie is absolutely perfect, from the writing, the acting, the cinematography, that beautiful score, i really could not find any faults at all. darth vader is truly one of the greatest fictional villains in cinematic history. the influence and effect it had on pop culture and so many other movies is still felt today, and no wonder, cause who wouldn't want to be inspired by this masterpiece.

one of the most popular films and franchises of all time and i'm finally gonna try and give it a go and watch all of them. i can't imagine how insane it must've been to be a teen in the 70s watching these movies in a theatre for the first time. the characters in this really are all amazing, especially luke, and it's also got one of the greatest fictional villains ever. can't wait to see the rest of them.

although not my favourite scorsese movie, it's still pretty fucking good. the camera work in this movie was so beautiful, easily the best part of the whole film. jessica lange is a standout in this, but it's robert de niro who truly carries the movie on his back acting wise.

there's something wrong with me

after years of churning out content post-endgame with few hits and many misses, marvel has finally given us another great movie. although most people, including me, had pretty low expectations for this when it was first announced, i was really pleasantly surprised. the writing is really good, managing to balance a lot of comedy (with jokes that actually landed most of time) with some really heartfelt moments too. at it's core it's a movie on depression and loneliness and handles the topics with a lot of care and consideration. the action and fight choreography was legitimately top tier, haven't seen shit like it in a marvel movie in a long while. that third act was so creative and different to what we usually see in a marvel movie, and i'm so glad they went with it as its so much better than the usual cgi fights we get.

florence pugh shines as yelena belova, showing again how she's one of the best casting choices marvel has ever made. julia louis dreyfus is also great as valentina, i don't think that anyone else could've handled the comedic element of the character as well as her. although i was really skeptical of lewis pullman's casting, he's amazing as bob. the rest of the ensemble cast is also great, with the chemistry and acting being top tier. the score by son lux is also absolutely amazing, already have it on repeat. all in all, this is easily one of the best marvel movies and one of my new personal favourites from the mcu.

you lost the moment you walked into this restaurant

some really interesting camerwork and lighting. the concept around it is quite unique too with the way phones were incorporated, but i can't help but feel like there could've been so much more from this movie. i guessed who the murderer was almost right away and wasn't surprised at all by the time of the reveal.

the horror... the horror...

one of the most visually gorgeous and well lit films i've ever seen, it sures so many modern movies in almost every category. seriously, francis ford coppola just couldn't be kept up with in the 70s, he was in a league of his own. it handles the topic of war so well, showing the the tragedy of war and its haunting effects on the human mind. not only are the characters written spectacularly, but the acting is amazing too. truly have gotta rethink if the godfather part ii is my favourite coppola movie after watching this one.

serenity is no longer wishing you had a different past

absolute masterclass in sound design. was in awe for essentially the entire runtime how good the sound design and acting was, especially during some scenes towards the end when the sound goes from normal to being distorted. it really makes you feel what ruben is going through. a really devestating movie on how it feels to have your dreams ripped away from you and how life can change in the blink of an eye. riz ahmed depicts the character of ruben perfectly, giving an intense, heartfelt and beautiful performance, displaying the loneliness, frustration and ultimately acceptance at the thing that takes over his life. the direction and cinematography are also really well done. honestly feel like they should bring this back to cinemas, i can't imagine how much better the experience would be watching this in a theater.

this is me, this is how i win.

goddamn man i need adam sandler to take on more serious, dramatic roles right now. he was absolutely phenomenal in this, and how most major award ceremonies downright ignored this performance is criminal. the safdies give us a masterclass in making cinema that induces anxiety in you from start to finish. the writing as a whole is great and howard was so well-written, bringing out his flaws and how he just keeps on digging his own grave deeper and deeper. the directing is also amazing, the way this movie is structured and so fast paced to make you feel like you're in the headspace of howard only increases the anxiety throughout. the cinematography is stunning in this and man, those last ten minutes are pure cinema. seriously think this might be one of my favourite movies ever.

come on cat

can't believe its taken me so long to see one of the most popular sci-fi films cause god damn this was amazing. ridley scott in his prime was truly unstoppable in whatever genre he decided his next movie was gonna be. sigourney weaver will always be known for having one of the most iconic roles in a sci-fi film ever and rightfully so cause she's awesome as ellen ripley. the set design in this was next level, incredibly ahead of its time and the cinematography is insanely gorgeous. the sound and score were also so good, adding to the dread and terror throughout the movie.

every ing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

a movie that manages to combine sci-fi with romance with a lucid dream kinda feel to it. that times square scene is legit still fresh in my mind. the soundtrack for this movie is absolutely amazing, one of my favourites in a movie ever i think and i really enjoyed seeing tom cruise play a role which is a bit different than his usual ones.

ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck.

there's nothing that feels quite as good as watching a childhood classic. so much nostalgia, with gorgeous animation and great songs. robin williams will always be missed, he was just too good.

i've heard a lot about how david cronenberg's movies feature next level body horror but since i've never watched any movies of his till now i never really knew what to expect. going into this all i knew is that i actually hate flies so much in real life and that was gonna be this movies main topic. you can imagine the shock i got while watching when i realized that not only was this gonna be such a gory horror movie, but also feature such a depressing romance story at its core too.

i seriously underestimated how right people were about the body horror stuff cause goddamn how did cronenberg manage to achieve THAT in the 80s, truly astounding stuff. what i also can't not talk about is just how good jeff goldblum and geena davis were in this. the performances of both were incredible and their chemistry was so good. watching how their romance evolved and what ultimately happens in the end was legit had me so depressed. seriously need to watch more from cronenberg cause i wasn't expecting to like this as much as i did.

set in sweden, fincher's take on a neo-noir thriller about the lies and deceit that are kept hidden by a family no matter what. fincher's direction is amazing in this, at the top of his game from start to finish and not once did this movie feel like it was dragging or that the runtime was bloated, it was pretty much perfect. his signature style is felt all throughout the movie, never shying away from gore or vulgarity.

daniel craig is great, but rooney mara is the standout with such an unbelievable performance, she was really deserving of that oscar nom and should've been handed the win. the writing was so good and the cinematography was also really beautiful. a particular standout for me in this was definitely the score, i actually think it's one of the best i've ever heard and i wasn't surprised at all when i found out that it was reznor and ross who did this one. really conflicted on if i should give this five stars but i feel like on rewatch the rating might probably go up.

probably the most divisive film of scorsese's career as it departs from what christian gospels teach about jesus and his life, it still makes for an alright film. scorsese humanises jesus more in this film, giving him more flaws and taking a deeper look into his thoughts. willem dafoe is great as jesus, giving a beautiful performance and one of the best one's i've seen of his. the only things i'd say that made me not enjoy this movie as much is that i felt like it dragged in a few parts and i could definitely feel the runtime being almost three hours.

whatever you do, don't stop praying.

a really mediocre horror movie, honestly expected better since its supposed to be on the character from the conjuring movies. it relies mostly on jumpscares to get that fear factor but fails to truly make it scary, especially with such mid writing.

how you fall doesn't matter, it's how you land

a movie that deals with subjects that are still extremely relevant 20 years later. the cinematography and editing were so beautiful, i'm so glad kassovitz decided to release it in black and white instead of colour cause it just looks so good. the writing was so good, so intense and with so many metaphors that leave you reflecting on what this movie is about. the acting was also amazing, especially cassel's performance, legit some of the best acting i've ever seen in a film. i haven't seen many french movies but i don't think there's gonna be much that will beat this as the best french film i've ever seen.

can't believe it's taken me so long to watch this but glad i finally got round to it. a beautiful movie on the type of friendship that is so deep, you'll stick through thick and thin with that person no matter what. stunning cinematography throughout with expert direction by ridley scott and such good performances by geena davis and susan sarandon. also features one of the most iconic endings in cinema with such a gorgeous shot to close it all out

i know it's not normal but i can't help it

julianne moore's an absolute powerhouse in this movie, seriously great acting. with such a great soundtrack to go along with it, todd haynes crafts a thought-provoking, unnerving movie. carol's confusion as to whats going on in her life to be making her feel like this, no one being there for her and how paranoia takes over her life was so terrifying to watch. really need a rewatch for this one to process it more fully, as i feel like there's much more to it.

go get em, tiger

i don't think there's ever been a director to not only understand spider-man but absolutely love the character as much as sam raimi.

this is comic-book movie making at its best, keeping the fundamentals of the character you're adapting there while making sure to make it such an enjoyable and beautiful movie. this one especially shows how hard it is to balance being a hero and trying to have a normal life as much as possible, taking you through the highs, lows and everything in between and how peter handles it. alfred molina as doc ock is god tier casting, up there with willem dafoe as green goblin, as he brings the character to life. besides sam raimi beautiful direction, the gorgeous cinematography and the amazing camera shots, the writing is also absolutely perfect. that ending still gives me chills no matter how many times i've watched it. easily the best spider-man movie ever made, and i really don't see it ever changing from that.

the guy who kills me... i hope he does it because he hates my guts, not because it's his job

featuring some of al pacino's best acting ever, it honestly took me by surprise how good this movie was. showing the lengths you go to for the one you love, the writing was so brilliant, perfectly balancing tension and comedy, and i loved how it took a while to get to exactly why sonny was doing what he was doing. the directing and editing were also absolutely great. all in all just a really good watch, might need to get more into sidney lumet's filmography cause this and 12 angry men are just so good.

for my first wong kar-wai movie, i'm absolutely blown away. maybe one of the most visually gorgeous movies i've seen, the cinematography and colours used throughout this film are so beautiful. telling such a heartbreaking, and yet very real, story of love and loss with tony leung and maggie chan giving such great performances and really bringing their characters to life. the music used throughout the movie was really beautiful and fit into each scene perfectly.

that rug really tied the room together

i really love the coen brothers' humor, this one was hilarious to me. the writing was really good and jeff bridges as the dude was pure perfection. the directing in this one, especially that dream sequence, was absolutely awesome. the music choices for this movie were also really good and just made it even better for me.

you're darn tootin!

for my first coen brothers movie, i really enjoyed this one. a crime film where so much manages to go wrong, and yet you manage to laugh throughout most of the runtime. the writing was pretty simple but still pretty good and it had some pretty hilarious moments. the acting was also great, especially with how they talk, and it just kinda made me want to meet a minnesotan in real life now. really excited to watch more from the coens, cause this was definitely a solid start.

incredibly innovative and ahead of its time, the way welles sets up every single shot is so amazing.

not only does he give such a good performance as charles foster kane, but he also is such a great director and writer. the writing was amazing, going into it i thought that i'd get bored at some point but it wasn't the case, i was hooked immediately. the cinematography is also absolutely beautiful. after the movie was over i found out that welles was 25 when he made this, which really just makes it even more crazy to me how ahead of his time he was.

yeah, fuck you too

man john carpenter knows how to direct the hell out of a horror movie. it lulls you into a false sense of security by showing you the main characters saving a dog and spending some time just roaming around with the dog, you're completely unaware of what horrors there are to come. the practical monster effects were the absolute highlight, so fucking good and ahead of their time they were absolutely insane to see. the cinematography and score were also a highlight for me in this one, just too good all round.

i'm a magnet for madness. other people's madness.

going into it i really didn't know how to feel about kristen stewart's casting as princess diana but damn she knocked it out of the park. really not surprised she was nominated for an oscar for this, she was just too good. the directing and cinematography for this were so beautiful, easily the other two main highlights of this. the score also elevated this film to a different level, made me give it an extra half star.
