Rarely a director challenges me as an individual. Making you look and face the bitter facts of reality, leaving an imprint on your eyes and soul that is forever seared. Lee Chang-dong despite his short filmography, captures an essence of cinema which I’ve been longing for ever since my discovery of my other personal favorite directors (Ozu, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Kar-wai, and Kore-eda).
