Dune: Part Two

★★★★★ Rewatched

After seeing this for a second time, this time in 70mm IMAX, I am still just in a state of awe. I have never had higher expectations for a movie and it still somehow sured those expectations. This is just a masterclass in EVERY aspect of filmmaking. We are witnessing history and I'm so blessed to be a film fan at this time, but more importantly, a fan of DUNE. Let's get into why this, in my opinion, is the…

Had to watch this for a project I’m doing for class, but it’s been on my watchlist for a few years despite being a pretty lesser-known film. I think this film is fine but nothing more than that. This was still very early in Ti West’s career, we even have a young Greta Gerwig here when she was an actress, so it was cool seeing one of their earlier indie projects. Alright, I’m kinda getting the hype now. This movie has been gassed up and talked about for months now nonstop, and I wanted to make sure to get to it before the Oscars. This movie is actually insane, in a good way for sure but it’s just a crazy ass movie. Director Coralie Fargeat doesn’t hold back at all and goes further than you expect at every moment. So full of style and nostalgia, but is fully unique doing its…

Knew this was gonna be fucked up the second I saw the A24 logo and I was right. My first Robert Eggers movie, and it did not disappoint. This is slow, disturbing, psychological, not quite like most horror movies. It’s not filled with jump scares and super crazy deaths, it’s more about the dread and horror of what happens AFTER something bad happens and how that affects the family and their next decision. It felt very real and dramatic the…

May thy 9th chip and shatter. I guess it’s Dune Day so I celebrated by seeing this in theaters for my 5th and most likely final time. Officially ing Endgame for the most times I’ve seen a movie in theaters and there’s no movie more deserving. I’m gonna miss seeing it on the big screen, the Dune: Part Two era was one I’ll never forget.
