I did like this movie, but it’s a great example of a somewhat painstaking watch with reward in the form of great performance and character dynamics. The film showcases very realistically behaving people dealing with clinical narcissism, and bad (although realistic) decisions by these characters. Not choices I would make, and again, choices that are a bit dumb to watch play out, but that may be the point.
Absolutely loved it, so compelling and a feast for the eyes the whole time. Lee Pace is my hero. Can’t believe I waited so long to watch this. I hope this film gets its current day revival because I feel like if it came out today it would be an immediate properly hyped masterpiece.
An extremely fun watch, even if it felt a bit longer than I wanted it to be. Several plot points felt like a little bit of a leap, but I also think the language barrier for me made an impact- for a fast paced detective story like this, every line is crucial and took some effort to follow with such strong visuals there to distract from the subtitles. Will definitely be watching again. Lots of amazing cinematic devices that will no doubt be borrowed by filmmakers in the future.
