it’s a horror movie about vampires… but it’s also a musical, a celebration and exploration of Black culture and identity, and a commentary on the cost of assimilation (white folks will do anything to literally sink their teeth into a culture that isn’t theirs)
what a transcendent time! what a cinematic gem!

Okay, this is actually the first cinema-going experience I've experienced. Yes! You've read that right! I sat at the left side, which isn't an ideal seat for me as a first-time goer but I still had fun! And I cried too! As soon as the film ends with the Florence + the Machine song, I knew right then that I just experienced something truly special.

I'm late, maybe like three minutes, and too bad the audio isn't very clear at some parts and I wish it had some subtitles so I could hear the dialogue; although I found out days later that I think all theaters suffered from this problem so it wasn't just me, but still it was a fun and great experience.

We dressed up something Ken-coded (I wore a white tshirt, red shorts, and rubber shoes) and while we 75% missed the Helen Mirren narration at the beginning of the film because I have to wait for my friend to be in the theater, it was a still a great time.

After Barbie, we immediately went to the bathroom for an outfit change so that we could fully get the Barbenheimer experience. I wore something all black (polo, pants, and shoes) and we looked kinda silly but we didn't care because this is something rare.

SET A - Protect Our Young Girls (1-3)
As they begin to explore the vastness of the world one step at a time, young girls are also exposed to certain forces that will change the way they see the world. This set is meant to shed light on the struggles they have gone through so early in their lives, even before they enter womanhood.
SET B - Society and Stereotypes (4-7)

SET C - Past and Present Collide (8-10)
The experiences and struggles women have gone through continue to influence and shape not just their lives, but ours as well in the present day. This set is for the women of today, allowing them to draw strength from the resilience and wisdom of those who endured these challenges before them.

Note: I posted this on February 2021. It's super late, I know, and I haven't really watched all movies that came out last 2019. However, I came up with this year-end list to know and look back how my taste improved over the years. I I used to catch up with all the latest releases back in 2019, but then I kinda gave up and I don't know why. I haven't rewatch most of these films yet ever since I first saw them back in 2019 or like, two or a year ago. I still how I feel about them tho. So if I ever watch a 2019-released film after I posted this, then it sadly won't qualify in this list anymore because it would be kind of unfair to put them here knowing that my taste actually improved now.

]]>hannah!!!!! thank u so much!!! thank u sa pag manage ng filo group natin. grabe I ire all ur hardwork sa sinegang hahahaha I hope magustuhan mo list ko ❤️❤️ wishing u a belated merry christmas and an advance happy new year!
hannah, one thing I know about you is that you're a dancer... so I chose this British classic. this is honestly one of the best and the most beautiful film about dancing I've ever seen. there's a breathtaking 17-minute ballet performance here you seriously need to witness. basta grabe ang ganda!!!!
since u love family dramas, eto mother and daughter drama from one and only Ingmar Bergman. di ito kagaya ng lady bird o ikmm ha hahaha basta ang raw nito. sobrang powerful ng mga performances. I think u will love it!!!
since u want to make your own short film soon, it's appropriate that I recommend u this one. it's about filmmaking. it's about one particular hobby that turns into a ion and then eventually... obsession. this is a film that reminds you that you should always prioritize people you love (family, friends) over your job. cliché, I know, but ang powerful ng pagka delivery dito huhu it's an effective cautionary tale
Watch this with ur parents (especially if they love seeing violence on media)!!! Trust me, this is the most creative psychological thriller you will ever see!!! It's not mindless exploitation on violence/torture or whatever, but it's actually an effective critique. Anyway, go watch it!!!!
THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL TORTURE FILM! TRUST ME, YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL BE SURPRISED (AND ANNOYED) LOL
if ever u feel like feeling down or if ever may existential crisis ka, you just need to watch this one. trust me, this is a very therapeutic movie. sana magustuhan mo!!!
this is my favorite feminist movie because the way it presented its feminist themes were very unique. it's a feminist film told through the eyes of young boys. sounds off and problematic at first but it's basically a fascinating and thought-provoking critique of the way men look at women, the stereotypical depiction of women, and the repression of female sexuality. Basta I wanted to hear ur thoughts about this!!
If u wanted to explore more documentary films, I suggest u watch some Michael Moore hahahaha he's a very divisive documentarian, his exploitative and opportunist techniques and also his use of dark humor... basta I wanted to hear ur thoughts. I picked this Oscar-winning docu because it's a shocking expose on gun violence in America. Basta one of the best documentaries I've seen!
ETO MY FAVORITE MUSICAL!!! HAHAHAHA
DI KO PA TO PINANOOD HAHAHAH BUT I'M SCARED. BUT I ALSO WANT U TO WATCH IT. DOCUMENTARY SIYA AHAHAHAHA
THIS IS MY FAVORITE FAMILY DRAMA OF ALL TIME!!!! U MUST WATCH IT HEHEHE I BELIEVE IT'S BETTER THAN UR ASIAN FAMILY DRAMAS (JOKE HAHAHAHAHAHA) BASTA HUHU I LOVE THIS FILM SO MUCH
