Silent Movie

1976

★★★★★ Liked Watched

As far as Mel Brooks oeuvre goes, Silent Movie truly doesn't get enough love from audiences. Coming off the back-to-back successes of Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie was Brooks cashing in his blank cheque to make his tribute to the comedies of yesteryear. 2010

★★ Watched

The People vs. George Lucas really showcases the ugly side of Star Wars fandom. The toxic basement dwellers screeching about how George Lucas "raped their childhood" by having the audacity to include jokes and CGI in the prequel trilogy. It's 90 minutes of entitled, Gen X manchildren screeching about George Lucas daring to make movies he wants to make. It's less a documentary about George Lucas and more about the overly possessive nature of fan culture and how easily some…

Sinners

Ryan Coogler is not a director who's work I've especially loved in the past. I wasn't too big on Creed and I couldn't give less of a shit about his Black Panther movies. I was hesitant at first when I saw his name attached to Sinners, but thankfully my fears were averted. Sinners is easily one of the best horror movies I've seen all year and one of the best experiences I've had in the cinema in a long time.…
