Dune: Part Two

The hero’s nightmare continues.

Denis Villeneuve continues to be my favorite working director as this man is able to direct at such a grand scale that I am always in awe of what I am witnessing.  Dune Part Two cements itself as possibly one of the greatest sci fi movies of all time.  This could be recency bias and I will be seeing this again to evaluate my thoughts.  However, the sheer magnitude of this film and what it does for the sci fi genre is astonishing.  What everyone has been saying is correct, this is our generations Empire Strikes Back or The Two Towers.

Not only is this a phenomenal sci fi epic with incredible performances, cinematography, visual effects, and music, it is also a great adaptation of book that is so hard to put to screen but it has been done and I can’t wait for people to see what Dune Messiah brings to the table.

The way this movie is able to navigate its themes and it’s ideas of religion really resonated with me and I loved the commentary it gave.  On top of that, i didn’t think Timmy had the sauce for the character of Paul but the mad lad did it and I’m sold.

There are so many standout scenes in this movie and seeing it in IMAX was a delight.  The gladiator fight sequence was one of the most visually appealing scenes in this movie.  Plus Austin Butler is him and killed it as Feyd Rautha.  Man was a menace.

There’s so much I can go into of why I love this movie but just know, it is that good.
