Basically as good as 3

Good:
- good performances 
- very creative spy stuff
- good directing
- building
- the movies are actually connecting to each other now
- Michael Giacchino seemed to have learned from his previous M:I score, and this one is much better

Mixed:
- not all of the humor landed

Bad:
- boring villain
- not an issue with the movie itself, but Prime Video refused to put subtitles for the Russian speaking, so I have no idea what they were saying. I there being subtitles when I first watched this, so I don’t know why they’re gone now.

Ever so slightly weaker than I ed, but still great.

Good:
- Ethan is significantly more fleshed out
- Julia is great, way better than Nyah
- great villain
- great performances, especially from Tom Cruise and Philip Seymour Hoffman
- some very solid sequences 
- love the darker tone

Mixed:
- not sure how I feel about the climax being shown at the very beginning. it does leave some dread throughout the movie building back up to it, but…

Liked it a bit more this time around

Good: 
- amazing vault sequence 
- train sequence at the end was fun
- not the biggest fan of Brian De Palma’s style, but it works well enough here
- the score, while not particularly standing out, works well enough
- Tom Cruise’s performance is great
- cool details throughout 
- well-paced

Mixed:
- the plot has some fun elements but is also overly convoluted at times
- no cast outside…

This movie has 2 modes: boring, and absolutely hilarious.

Good:
- great score, Hans Zimmer never misses
- knife scene
- some parts are unintentionally hilarious

Mixed:
- definitely Tom Cruise’s weakest performance as Ethan Hunt, but he’s still okay
- inconsistent cinematography. some decent shots, but it gets really bad during action scenes

Bad:
- boring plot
- bad villain
- bad editing
- bad action
- bad direction
- bad pacing
- bad acting from everyone except Cruise…
